2. Removalof Main LandingGear (referto 32-10-00 Figure 401)
(a)
Placeairplaneon jacks. (refer to Jacking, 7-10-00.)
(b)
Removetwo accessplatesforwardand two access platesaft of the outboardwheeldoor.
(c)
Withthe hand pump, retract maingearslightlyto relieve gear fromits down lockedposition and to lower inboardgear door out of the way.
(d)
Disconnectbrake line.
(e)
To remove sidebrace link assembly,use the following procedure:
(1.) Disconnectactuatingcylinderand down lock cable from upper side brace link arm by removingthe clevis bolt. Disconnectotherendof the down lock rod or cableat the down lock hook.
(2.) Removedown lock hookand spring by removingpivot bolt.
(3.) Removedownlock switch by removing the four screwsattachingthe bracket betweenthe forwardand aft side brace links. Removeclampssecuring the electricalwiringto the side brace link.
(4.) Disconnect lower side brace link from gear oleo housing; let link assembly swingdown.
(5.) Remove bolt connectingthe upper and lower side brace links.
(6.) Disconnectaft link fromits attachment plate.
(7.) To removeforwardlink,remove nut with washersholdingthe link on its pivot shaft. Slide
linkfromthe pivot shaft.
(8.) The pivot shaft is removed by reaching throughpivot shaft bracketaccessholeand removingthe bolt securing the shaftto the shaft fitting. Slide the tube throughthe attachmentbracket. Theshaft fitting it attached with cap bolts,washers,and anchor nuts.
NOTE: Beforeremovingthe pivot shaftattachmentfittingfrom the spar, notewhereand howmany spacers/shims wereusedduring installation.Use samenumberof shimsat reinstallation and note bolt sizes at the locationsremoved.
(f)
Disconnectoutboardgeardoor retraction rodsat the gear housing. With the lowerside brace link disconnectedfromthe housing,the gear is removed by removingattachmentbolt assembliesat the attachmentplateson each side of the gear housing. Note the numberand locationof spacerwashers between the gear housingand attachment plates. Mainlanding gearbolt retainers mustberemoved.
(g)
The up lock hook and springis removed by disconnectingup lock cable and blowdownactuator rod from hookandthe hookpivot bolt.
(h)
The up lock cable is removedby disconnecting it at the lockcrank.
(i)
The landinggearand upper drag link attachment platesare removed by reaching through the accessholes in the nutssecuringthe plates. Whileholdingthe nutswith a wrench, remove attachment bolts.
