(a) Lowidleadjustment.
(1.) Location: Fuelcontrolunit:
(a.) Woodward Type II fuel control unit see Figure 503.

(b.) WoodwardTypeIII fuel controlunitsee Figure 504. (2.) Position cockpitconditionlever in low idle detent. (3.) Set fuel control unit idle adjustmentto produce56 to 58 percent Ng.
(a.) Woodward Type II fuel control unit:Ng will change 0.05percentper flat adjustment.(b.) Woodward Type III fuel control unit: Ng will change 2.0percentper flat adjustment.
(b) High idle adjustment.
(1.) Location: Top section of fuel controlunit.
(a.) WoodwardType II: See Figure 503.
(b.) WoodwardType III: See Figure 504.


(2.) Positioncockpitconditionleversto high idle position. (3.) Set high idle stop screwto produce69to 71 percent Ng. One flat adjustment on type II andtypeIIIfuel control unitsresult in 0.3 percentchangein Ng.
NOTE: The following procedureonly applies toenginesequippedwith Woodward typeIIIfuel controlunits.
(c) WoodwardTypeIIIfuel control unitdeadbandadjustment.
(1.) Placebothcockpit condition leversin idle position.

(2.) Referto Figure 405. On each engine,disconnectpush-pullwire rope rear end clevisfrom propellercam. (3.) Adjust bothengineinterconnectrodlengthsso that distanceX between centersof rod end bearing installation bolt holes is 8.6 inches. (4.) Using bolt, washer, andcastellatednut,install one rod end in bottom hole of cam assemblyfuel control unitactuatinglever.Safetywithcotterpin. (5.) Using bolt,washer,and castellated nut, install second rodend to outer or top hole of fuel controlunit fuel control arm. Safety with cotter pin. (6.) Refer to Figure 509. Pull cockpit powerleverinto reverse range just far enough to move fuelcontrol unit deadbandstopscrewoff dead band stop. (7.) Insert a piece of paperbetweendeadband screw anddeadband stop. Slowly move linkagetoward forward range until:
(a.) Deadband screw contactsstopwith just enoughpressure to holdpaper tight.
(b.) Any movement of linkage towardreverserange will release paper.
(8.) Referto Figure 406. Using a protractor,measureandrecord angle W, betweenpropeller cam assemble riggingplate,andthrottle arm.
(9.) Refer to Figure 509. Pushfuel control unitlinkage toward forwardrangeto point where papercontinuesto be held betweenscrewand stop, butfurthermovementwouldlift dead bandscrew off stop.
(10.) Refer to Figure 406. Measureand record new angle W between propellercamassemble rigging plate and throttle arm.

(11.)Differencebetweenanglesmeasuredin steps (8.) and (10.) shouldbe24to 26. Adjust deadband stop screwas required. NgMaximum ForwardStop 0.33%N1 Per Flat DO NOT ADJUST
