Look for pins that are loose, bent or have a cracked.
(b)
Look for damage or cracks on the base insulation.
(c)
Look for discolored, burned, or pitted pins.

Do these steps to examine the receptacles from the inner side of the airplane:
(a)
Look for discoloration of the receptacle studs and the wires caused by too much heat.
(b)
Make sure that the wire connectors are assembled correctly.
NOTE: The wire terminal goes against the terminal block,
____ then the washers and the nuts. Do not install the washers below the wire terminals.
(c) Look for loose nuts on the receptacle terminals.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS TOO MUCH. YOU CAN BREAK THE PINS ON THE EXTERNAL POWER RECEPTACLE.
1) If you find loose nuts, do these steps to tighten them: a) Tighten the four large nuts on the receptacle pins A, B, C and D to a torque of 120-125 pound-inches. b) Tighten the two small nuts on the receptacle pins E and F to a torque of 28-32 pound-inches.
(d) Examine external power receptacle neutral ground conductor stud connections for the inside of the airplane for the following: 1) Discoloration of the conductor from overheating. 2) Check the electrical bonding of the neutral ground
conductor to the ground stud (WDM 20-20-00).

(1) Open the door 118A for the external power receptacle (receptacle).
E. Examine the external power receptacle (receptacle) for damaged or worn pins.

Do these steps to examine the receptacle for worn or damaged pins:
(a)
Try to slide the gage F70284-2 or SE24-4001-2 over each of the main power pins A, B, C and D on the two receptacles.
(b)
Make sure the pins will not go into the gage.
(c)
Try to slide the gage F70284-3 or SE24-4001-1 over each of the pins E and F on the two receptacles.
(d)
Make sure the pins will not go into the gage

(2) If you have a failure of the pin gage test, replace the applicable receptacle (AMM 24-41-03/401).

Put the Airplane back to its usual condition.
(a)
Install the wire guard on the two receptacles.
(b)
Install the three nuts that hold the two conductor guards to the receptacle pan.
(c)
Install the floor panels, in the lower lobe, on the right side of the E/E rack.
(d)
Close the door 118A for the receptacles.
