C. Install the Main Battery Relay or the Battery Transfer Relay

(1)
Install the relay:
(a)
Put the relay in its position on the P180 panel.
(b)
Install the four screws that attach the relay to the panel.
(c)
Tighten the nuts.

Connect the electrical leads to the relay:
(a)
Remove the nuts and washers from the studs on the relay.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE CORRECT ELECTRICAL LEAD TO EACH
_______ STUD ON THE RELAY. AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE CIRCUIT AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(b) Connect each electrical lead to its applicable stud on the relay.
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE WASHERS BELOW THE ELECTRICAL LEADS.
_______ THIS WILL CAUSE HEAT THAT CAN BURN THE STUDS ON THE RELAY.
(c)
Put a washer and a nut on each stud.
(d)
Tighten the nuts.

Close the access doors for the P180 panel.

Connect the electrical connectors to the batteries:
(a)
Put the main battery connector (DM7423A) into the receptacle on the main battery.
(b)
Put the APU battery connector (DM7432A) into the receptacle on the APU battery.
(c)
Turn the knobs on the connectors clockwise with your hand until they are tight.

Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the BATTERY switch.

Do a Test of the Main Battery Relay or the Battery Transfer Relay

Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Do a test of the relay:
(a)
Make sure the STANDBY POWER switch, on the P5 panel, is set to AUTO.
(b)
Open the 6A25 XFR RELAY STBY circuit breaker on the P6 (main power distribution) panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag.
(c)
Make sure the main EICAS display operates correctly.
(d)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close the 6A25 XFR RELAY STBY circuit breaker on the P6 panel.
(e)
Set the STANDBY POWER switch to BAT.
(f)
Make sure the main EICAS display operates correctly.
(g)
Set the STANDBY POWER switch to AUTO.

Remove electrical power, if it not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).
