APU BATTERY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks. One task is the removal of the APU battery (M7432). The other task is the installation of the APU battery.
B. The APU battery is installed on the E-33 equipment rack with the APU battery charger. The E-33 equipment rack is on the left side of the aft passenger cabin. Access to the E-33 equipment rack is through the E-33 access door.

CAUTION: THE APU BATTERY MAY BE REMOVED WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS SUPPLIED
_______ WITH EXTERNAL POWER. EXTERNAL POWER PROVIDES PROTECTION FOR THE AC BUSES DURING APU BATTERY REMOVAL. DO NOT REMOVE THE APU BATTERY IF THE AIRPLANE IS SUPPLIED WITH IDG OR APU GENERATOR POWER. THE AC BUSES ARE NOT PROTECTED DURING APU BATTERY REMOVAL IF THE IDG OR APU GENERATOR SUPPLIES POWER, AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE COULD OCCUR.
(1)
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
On the P183 panel:
1) APU BAT CHGR
2) APU BATTERY BUS
(b)
On the P6 panel:
1) 6J9, APU BAT BUS APU BAT-CONT

Make sure the BATTERY switch, on the P5 panel, is set to OFF and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the APU battery.
(a)
Turn the knob on the APU battery connector (DM7432A) counterclockwise until the connector is free from the APU battery receptacle.
