D. Install the APU Battery Charger

Install the APU battery charger in the E-33 equipment rack (Ref 20-11-22/401).
(a)
Tighten the APU battery charger stud nuts as follows:
NOTE: If you use the plain nut on the APU battery charger
____ studs, you must use a plain washer and lock washer under the nut. If you use the self-locking nut, use only the plain washer under the nut.
1) Tighten the stainless steel self-locking nut on the + (positive) terminal of the battery charger to 190 +/- 10 inch-pounds.
2) Tighten the stainless steel plain nut on the + (positive) terminal of the battery charger to 185 +/- 10 inch-pounds.
3) Tighten the stainless steel self-locking nut on the -(negative) terminal of the battery charger to 140 +/- 5 inch-pounds.

4) Tighten the stainless steel plain nut on the - (negative) terminal of the battery charger to 135 +/- 5 inch-pounds.

Check the battery charger ground studs.
(a)
Remove the insulation blanket fastener (AMM 25-59-05/601).
(b)
Move the insulation blanket to gain access to the APU Battery Charger ground stud.
(c)
Make sure the terminal lug is not damaged, deformed or anealed (SWPM 20-30-00).
NOTE: If the terminal lug is damaged, deformed or anealed
____ replace the terminal lug (SWPM 20-30-11).
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL ON THE GROUND WIRE AFTER THE GROUND STUDS ARE
_______ TIGHTENED. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT OR AIRPLANE STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Make sure the battery charger ground stud nut torque is 65 to 70 pound-inch (SWPM 20-30-00).
(e)
Make sure the electrical bonding resistance between the battery charger ground studs and the airplane structure is not more than 0.0001 ohms (SWPM 20-20-00).
(f)
Clean the fuselage area next to the APU battery charger ground studs. Make sure the charger ground stud area is free of dust and dirt (AMM 51-24-13/701).
CAUTION: ALLOW THE CORROSION INHIBITING COMPOUND SOLVENTS TO
_______ EVAPORATE. INSULATION BLANKETS WHICH TOUCH THE CORROSION INHIBITING COMPOUNDS BEFORE COMPLETE SOLVENT EVAPORATION WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BLANKETS. BLANKETS DAMAGED BY THE CORROSION INHIBITING COMPOUNDS CANNOT BE CLEANED AMD MUST BE REPLACED.
(g) Apply corrosion inhibiting compounds to the fuselage areas exposed by cleaning (AMM 51-24-13/701).
NOTE: Corrosion inhibiting compound BMS 3-23 requires 4 hours
____ standing time after application to let the solvents evaporate. Compounds BMS 3-26 and BMS 3-29 require 6 hours standing time after application to let the solvents evaporate.
NOTE: Corrosion inhibiting Compounds Dinatol AV8, LPS Hardcoat
____ and Zip Chem ZC023 dries tack free in 1 hour. Accelerated drying time of 6 minutes can be obtained when warm air is applied over the area. Warm air is air with a temperature of 120 degrees F.
