Install the External Power Receptacle

(1)
Seal the insulation plate:
(a)
Remove the insulation plate from the receptacle pan.
(b)
Apply a faying-surface seal (0.25 inch radius) with the sealant around each bolt hole on the receptacle pan (Ref 51-31-01/201).
(c)
Put the insulation plate in its position, with the bolt holes aligned, on the receptacle pan.
NOTE: Do this step in the airplane.

Install the external power receptacle:
(a)
Put the external power receptacle and the safety guide in their positions in the receptacle pan.
NOTE: Do this step out of the airplane.

(b)
Apply sealant to the three long bolts.
(c)
Install the three bolts and the three washers through the receptacle, the receptacle pan, and the insulation plate.
NOTE: Do not install a long bolt where the short bolt must be

installed.

(d)
Install the nuts on the three long bolts.
(e)
Apply sealant to the short bolt.
(f)
Install the short bolt and the washer through the insulation plate, the receptacle pan, and the receptacle.
(g)
Install the nut on the short bolt.
(h)
Tighten the four nuts.

(3) Connect the electrical leads to the external power receptacle:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE CORRECT ELECTRICAL LEAD TO EACH
_______ RECEPTACLE STUD. AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION OF THE CIRCUIT AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(a) Install the six leads on the receptacle studs of the external power receptacle.
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE WASHERS BELOW THE ELECTRICAL LEADS.
_______ THIS WILL CAUSE HEAT THAT CAN BURN THE RECEPTACLE STUDS.
(b)
Install the nuts and the washers on the receptacle studs A, B, C, and D.
(c)
Tighten the nuts to 120-125 pound-inches.
(d)
Install the nuts and the washers on the receptacle studs E and F.
(e)
Tighten the nuts to 28-32 pound-inches.
(f)
Remove the identification tags.

(4)
Seal the receptacle studs:
(a)
Apply a layer of adhesive on the electrical lead terminals and the receptacle studs with a brush.
(b)
Let the adhesive dry for one hour at ambient temperature.
(c)
Apply a layer of compound on the electrical lead terminals and the receptacle studs with a brush.

Install the conductor guard:
(a)
Put the conductor guard in its position above the receptacle studs.
(b)
Install the three nuts that attach the conductor guard to the receptacle pan.
(c)
Tighten the nuts.
