R - the ANTI ICE/ENG 1(2) pushbutton switch has been selected ON,

R - no icing conditions have been detected by the ice detectors for 130
R seconds,

R - one ice detector FAULT signal at least, is correct.

R 8. BITE____
R

R A. Description
R
R The function of the BITE is to monitor the operation of the ice detector
R and the associated ouputs, analyse and confirm the faults and store them
R in the Non-Volatile Memory (NVM). The ice detector is a type 3 system.
R
R The ice detector incorporates a built-in test feature with remote
R Initiated Test capability and provides a discrete output signal for
R remote display of an ice detector failure.
R
R The ice detector BITE performs the following functions:
R
R - acquisition of discrete input signals,
R
R - communication with the SDAC 1(2) and FWC 1(2),
R
R - memorization of failure in a NVM,
R
R - tests.
R
R The BITE is comprised of 3 basic functions:
R
R - Power On Self Test
R

R - Initiated Test
R
R - Normal BITE.
R
R These functions must check all the ice detector operations to allow an
R appropriate failure rate to be achieved for the overall system.

R In addition to the Initiated Test, the built-in test (normal BITE)
R continuously monitors the internal components and functions for failure
R conditions during normal operation.
R B. Operation
R
R Upon selection from the MCDU, the CFDIU displays the ICE & RAIN menu on
R the MCDU.
R C. Maintenance messages

R NOTE : When the failure occurs on the ground, GND precedes the____
R maintenance message.
