Do this task to use a different (alternate) fuel tank to supply fuel to the APU.

AIRPLANES WITH A HYDROMECHANICAL SCAVENGE PUMP SYSTEM; If the inboard main tanks (MAIN 2 and 3) do not contain sufficient fuel, the outboard main tanks (MAIN 1 or 4) or the CWT can supply the APU with fuel.

C. Alternate Fuel Supply For APU Operation

(1)
Make a decision about which fuel tank will supply the APU with fuel.

(2)
If the No. 1, 3 or 4 main tank will supply fuel, do these steps:
(a)
Make sure the fuel supply tank contains a minimum of 2800 lbs (1300 kgs) of fuel.
(b)
Open the No. 2 crossfeed valve.
(c)
Open the crossfeed valve for the fuel supply tank.
(d)
Operate a boost pump for the fuel supply tank.
(e)
Operate the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(f)
Make sure the APU is started and running before you begin the refuel operation.
(g)
Make sure the refuel operation is complete before you shutdown the APU.
