 (i)
Fill the strut with the specified hydraulic fluid on the nameplate.

NOTE: If only small quantities of fluid are neccessary,
____ approximately 1.0 percent of the total, you can use fluid without lubricant to fill the shock strut. If large quantities are necessary, add lubricant to the shock strut. As an alternative, you can use a fluid which has an added lubricant.
 (j)
Continue to fill the shock strut until the hydraulic fluid which flows into the bucket is free of bubbles.

 (k)
Close the oil fill valve.

 (l)
Remove the oil charging line.

 (m)
Put the cap on the oil fill valve.

 (n)
Remove the hydraulic hose from the air charging valve.

 (o)
Connect the air hose from the service manifold assembly to the air charging valve.

 (p)
Pressurize the shock strut with nitrogen or dry air. 1) Measure dimension X vertically from the bottom of the outer cylinder to the top of the axle housing.

 2)  Add or release air until the dimension X and the pressure are in the band on the servicing chart.

 (q)
Close the air charging valve on the shock strut.

 (r)
Remove the hose of the service manifold assembly from the air charging valve.

 (s)
Tighten the swivel nut to 60-84 pound-inches.

 (t)
Install the pressure caps on the air charging valves of each gear.

 (6)  After several landings, measure dimension X and read the pressure on the pressure gages of the wing landing gears. If the pressure and dimension X are out of range, add or release gas.

 LANDING GEAR TIRES - SERVICING
______________________________
 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has these tasks:
 (1)  The first task is the tire servicing.
CAUTION: USE A CALIBRATED GAGE TO DO A CHECK OF THE TIRE PRESSURE.
_______ IF THE GAGE IS NOT ACCURATE, YOU CAN INFLATE THE TIRE TO THE INCORRECT PRESSURE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIRE.
 B.  AIRPLANES WITH INTEGRAL TIRE PRESSURE GAGE/FILL VALVE ASSEMBLIES ON THE NOSE AND MAIN GEAR WHEELS; The tire pressure gage is part of an assembly that includes the gage and the tire fill valve. You can use the gage for walk-around inspections and other fast checks. You must use a calibrated gage when you inflate a tire. You must also use the calibrated gage when the tire pressure indication must be very accurate.
 C.  You must initially inflate all tires with nitrogen.
 D.  You can add air to the tire when nitrogen is not available, but you must obey this limit:
 (1)  The oxygen in the air that you add must not be more than 5 percent of the total tire volume.
 E.  There are two procedures to add air to the tires given in the Add Nitrogen or Air to a Tire paragraph.
 (1)
The first procedure permits one value of 19 psi for the sum of all air refill pressures. This procedure is easier to use than the second procedure.

 (2)
The second procedure permits different values of air refill pressures across the range of permitted tire pressures. Use this procedure if the air refill pressure that is necessary is more than 19 psi.

 F.  Tire pressure maintenance is contained in the Tire Pressure Check paragraph. This procedure applies for all usual airline service and operation at maximum taxi gross weight.
CAUTION: TO OPERATE AT A HIGHER GROSS WEIGHT, ADJUST THE TIRE PRESSURE AS
_______ SHOWN IN THE TIRE PRESSURE LIMIT CHARTS. DAMAGE TO THE TIRES WILL OCCUR IF THE TIRE PRESSURE IS NOT CORRECT FOR THE AIRPLANE GROSS WEIGHT.
 G.  When the airplane is constantly operated at less than maximum weight, (for example, pilot training) you can lower the tire pressures as shown in the Tire Pressure Limit charts.
