B. Procedure
S 863-019
(1) Make sure the airplane is empty.
NOTE: For this check, the landing weight of the airplane is
____ sufficient for the empty condition.
S 723-020
(2)
Do a check of the landing gear pressurization with the airplane empty.
(a)
Measure the pressure and extension of the shock strut on the nose landing gear.
(b)
Compare the pressure and extension to the band on the servicing chart.
(c)
If it is necessary, add pressure to the strut to get a point on the servicing band.
(d)
If it is necessary, release pressure from the strut to get a point on the servicing band.
(3)
Put a load on the airplane.
S 863-021
NOTE: For the best precision, the full weight of the
____ airplane must be 200,000 pounds more than the empty weight of the airplane. The temperature difference between the times you measure the data must not be more than 20°F.

(4) Do a check of the landing gear pressurization with a full load of weight and fuel on the airplane.
(a)
Measure the pressure and extension of the shock strut for the nose landing gear.
(b)
Compare the pressure and the extension to the band on the servicing chart.
NOTE: If the point is on the servicing band, then the
____ fluid level is correct. If the point is on the right of the band, then the fluid level is too high. If the point is on the left of the band, then the fluid level is too low.
(c) If the fluid level is not correct and you need to dispatch the airplane, add air to or release air from the strut to get a point on the servicing band to permit dispatch for one flight to a facility where the full servicing can occur.
NOTE: It is not necessary to dispatch the airplane for
____ servicing if the equipments are available at the site.
S 613-054
(5) Perform a full servicing (Ref. "Nose Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing" task) or do the steps that follow to add hydraulic fluid to the full level.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PRESSURE FIRST FROM THE WING LANDING GEAR OR
_______ REMOVE IT EQUALLY FROM ALL OF THE MAIN LANDING GEARS. THE AIRPLANE CAN FALL TO THE SIDE IF YOU REMOVE THE PRESSURE INCORRECTLY.
(a)
Remove the cap from the air charging valve.
(b)
Loosen the outer nut a maximum of two turns.
NOTE:____Permit the shock strut to fully compress. See Dimension "X" in Figure 302.
(c)
Let the gas/fluid mixture evaporate for one hour.
(d)
Connect one end of a hose to the air charging valve.

(e)
Put the other end of the hose in a drain bucket.
(f)
Remove the pressure cap from the oil fill valve.
(g)
Attach the hydraulic fluid line to the oil fill valve.
(h)
Make sure the shutoff valve on the top of the shock strut is open.
