 (1)  Read and obey the precautions in this task: Precautions and Limits for Fuel Servicing (AMM 12-11-01/301).

 WARNING: BEFORE YOU REFUEL THE AIRPLANE, MAKE SURE THE INOPERATIVE
_______ REFUEL VALVE IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. IF THE REFUEL VALVE IS IN THE OPEN POSITION, A FUEL SPILL CAN OCCUR. A FUEL SPILL CAN CAUSE A FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION.
 (2) Make sure the inoperative refuel valve is in the closed position.
 E. Refuel the Fuel Tanks
 S 653-004
 (1)  Do a manual pressure refuel operation (AMM 12-11-03/301).
 NOTE: Refuel all the fuel tanks except the tank with an inoperative
____
 refuel valve.

 (2)  
Refuel the fuel tanks per fuel sheet requirements.

 (3)  
Continue with this procedure to refuel the tank with an inoperative refuel valve.

 F. Refuel the Fuel Tank - Tank With an Inoperative Refuel Valve

Do this task: Manually Open the Refuel Valve (AMM 28-21-00/201).

 (2)  
Make sure the P42 panel is set for the refuel operation:

 (a)  
VALVE POSITION CONTROL (refuel valve) switches - CLOSED

 (b)  
ALL VALVES switch - CLOSED

 (3)  Activate the fuel equipment switch (deadman switch) to start the fuel flow.

 (4)  Make sure the refuel pressure is between 35 and 55 psi.

Monitor the fuel quantity.

Release the deadman switch to stop the fuel flow at the desired fuel quantity.

 G. Put the Airplane Back to the Usual Condition

Do this task: Manually Close the Refuel Valve (AMM 28-21-00/201).

Make a logbook entry of the inoperative refuel valve.

Schedule a maintenance task to troubleshoot and repair the refuel system (FIM 28-21-00/101).

 3.  Refuel Operation - Blank Fuel Quantity Indicator________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
This task refuels a fuel tank with a blank fuel quantity indicator (blank gage).

 (2)  
When the fuel quantity indicator for a tank is blank, you cannot open the applicable refuel valve with the P42 panel switch. To open the refuel valve(s) electrically, you must use the VTO override switch on the fuel quantity processor unit (FQPU). You can also manually open the refuel valve at the refuel valve control unit.

 (3)  
There is no automatic refuel valve shutoff protection when the refuel valves are opened with the VTO override switch. You must put the individual refuel valve switch to the CLOSED position before the tank overfills. If you put too much fuel into a fuel tank, fuel will overflow the tank and spill into the surge tanks.

 (4)  
There is no automatic refuel valve shutoff (auto shutoff) or overfill protection when a refuel valve is opened manually. If you put too much fuel into the tank, fuel will overfill the tank and enter the surge tank(s). If the fuel flow is not stopped, the surge tank will overfill and an overboard fuel spill will occur.
