(b)
Insert a 1/4 inch hex socket, with attached 6 inch extension and ratchet wrench, onto the 1/4 inch hex shaft on the end of the starter.
NOTE : MAKE SURE THE APU INTERNAL TEMPERATURE IS NOT MORE THAN
____ 176F (80C) BEFORE THE BORESCOPE IS PUT INTO THE APU. HEAT CAN DAMAGE THE BORESCOPE.
(2)
Remove EGT thermocouple from the engine assembly. (Ref. TASK 49-72-15-000-002).
(3)
Put the borescope into the EGT thermocouple port.
(4)
Adjust the borescope as necessary to examine the second stage turbine rotorblades for damage.

The following observations are acceptable:
(b)
The following observations are not acceptable, the observations are criterifor APU removal:
1_ Blade tip corrosion is permitted (48).
2_ Missing flow discouragers on leading or trailing edge of
turbine wheel is acceptable (51).
3_ Discoloration of blades is acceptable (50).
4_ Nicks on leading edge, trailing edge and blade tip is
acceptable (49).
1 Remove the APU if there are any cracked or missing blades
_ (52).
(6) If the condition of the turbine blade is suspect, a review of MES/IDLE report 13 accessed through the MCDU is possible. If EGTA is greater than 1100F (593C), remove the APU at earliest convenience.
NOTE : Second stage stator vanes are not accessible with borescope.
____ Assessment ofacceptance should be made based on condition of first stage turbine nozzle and fstage turbine wheel.
(7)
Remove the borescope from the EGT thermocouple port.
(8)
Install EGT thermocouple in the engine assembly (Ref. TASK 49-72-15-400-003).
(9)
Install cap on end of starter.
