 C. Adjustment of the Air-Intake Flap Actuator
 (1)
Remove the clamp (11) and push the bellows (12) down.

 (2)
Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknut (7) and loosen the locknut.

 (3)
Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).

 (4)
Remove the castle nut (16), the washers (9A,15) and the bolt (10).

 (5)
Adjust the end fitting (8) in half-turn steps until you get the correct length. One half-turn causes the air intake flap to move approximately 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.).

 (6)
Align the end fitting (8) and examine the thread-engage inspection hole.

 (7)
Tighten the locknut (7) and safety it with lockwire-corrosion resistant steel 0.8mm (0.032 in.).

 (8)
Install the bolt (10), the washers (9A) and (15) and the castle nut (16).

 (9)
TORQUE the castle nut (16) to between 0.7 and 0.8 m.daN (61.94 and

70.79 lbf.in) and safety it with a new cotter pin (17).
 (10)
Seal the connection with SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016) and apply PAINTS FOR DETAIL (INTERNAL AND EXTERN AL) (Material No. 07-001).

 (11)
Install the clamp (11) and connect the bellows (12) to the air-intake flap actuator (6).

 D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 1KD, 2KD.
 Subtask 49-16-51-710-053
 E. Do the operational test of the air intake flap (Ref. TASK 49-16-00-710-002).

 5. Close-up
________ Subtask 49-16-51-410-053
 A. Close Access
 (1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

 (2)
Put the floor structure on the service frame and lock the stud nuts.

 (3)
 Close the maintenance door 314AR.

 (4)
 Remove the access platform(s).

POWER PLANT DRAIN SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
____________________________________________________

R **ON A/C 001-003, 051-099, 401-499,
 1.
 General

_______ Various APU components, at which waste fluids (fuel and oil) may occur, incorporate provisions to collect these. In addition, the exhaust system is exposed to rain water and cleaning fluids. For safety and operational reasons, all these fluids are collected separately and drained overboard via the APU compartment drain mast. The APU compartment itself is designed such to permit all fluids occurring to gather at the lowest point, from which they are discharged overboard via the drain mast. All components of the drain system are fireproof.

 3. System Description
__________________ (Ref. Fig. 001, 002, 003) Drain lines are connected to the fuel/oil-pump drain, IGV actuator-seal drain and the flow divider. These go to a collector line that goes along the underside of the APU, and then to a drain tank. The drain tank is installed on the access door 316AR and has a drain line. The drain line goes along the inside of the access door to a drain mast. Air flow across the drain mast causes a vacuum in the drain line. The suction effect produced, is sufficient to remove the contents of the drain tank at approximately 200 kts forward air speed. A vent line between the drain mast and the drain tank ventilates the drain tank and drain lines.

 APU Drain System - Schematic
 Figure 003

CES  Drain lines, connected to the heat shield drain, exhaust coupling drain and the turbine plenum drain, also go to the drain mast. These do not go to the drain tank, but discard the waste fluids directly overboard. The interface of the APU drain lines and the drain lines on the right access door to the drain mast, is made by spring adapter seals constructed from stainless steel. The APU compartment drainage is integrated into the installation of the drain mast at the lowest part of the APU compartment fire zone between FR80 and FR81. A leakage of any fluid from the APU will run down the inside of the access door(s) to be drained through four holes in the drain mast. The fluids discarded through the APU drain mast do not have a dangerous effect on the APU or any other components. The gearbox is vented to the APU exhaust through a vent line. All the parts used in the drainage system are fireproof.
