 (a)
 Remove the screws which attach the cover plate to the forward face of the starter motor (8KA).

 (b)
 Remove the cover plate from the forward face of the starter motor (8KA).

 

 (4)
 Attach the socket spanner on the extension of the starter motor shaft. Turn the socket spanner counterclockwise to turn the engine.

 (5)
 Put the borescope through the air intake access hole to examine the power compressor for this damage:

 (a)
 Compressor blades with leading-edge erosion more than 0.125 in. (3.1749 mm) or trailing-edge erosion more than 0.5 in. (12.6999 mm), are not permitted.

 (b)
 Leading-edge cracks are permitted if they are in the outer 50% of the blade.

 (c)
 Trailing-edge cracks less than three-eighths of the blade are permitted if they are in the area between the shroud and three-quarters of the exit blade width.

 (d)
 Compressor blade/splitters that have more than one crack which would permit a piece of the blade to break off, are not permitted.

 Remove the borescope from the power section compressor. Subtask 49-20-00-290-061

 B.
 Borescope Inspection of the Turbine Nozzle

 (1)
 Remove the igniter plug (8031KM) to get access to the turbine nozzle (Ref. TASK 49-41-41-000-001).

 (2)
 Assemble the GUIDE TOOL - BORESCOPE, APU and install it in position at the igniter plug hole.

 (3)
 Put the borescope in position at the nozzle guide vanes and make an inspection for this damage:

 (a)
 Cracks on vane leading-edges fillets are not permitted.

 (b)
 Cracks and/or erosion on vane leading-edges are permitted if they do not go into the vane air-cooling passages.

 (c)
 Pits and erosion along the blade length and trailing edges are permitted.

 (d)
 Broken vanes or missing pieces of the vane leading-edges are not permitted.

 

 (4)
 Remove the borescope from the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) - (4005KM).

 (5)
 Install the igniter plug (8031KM) (Ref. TASK 49-41-41-400-001).

 (6)
 Remove the socket spanner from the extension on the starter motor (8KA).

 (7)
 Install the cover plate to the front face of the starter motor (8KA) with the screws.

 (8)
 Tighten the screws.

 (9)
 Install the air-intake screen (3) to the air-intake with the washers

 


 (2) and the screws (1).

 (1)
 Start the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-003).

 (2)
 Examine the APU pipeline connections for leaks.
 NOTE : No leaks are permitted.
