 Put the seal profile (15) in the center of the air intake flap (8). The ends of the profile must not extend over the flap.

 (f)
 Adjust the seal profile (15) as shown in detail B. The dimension X is 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.).

 (g)
 Tighten the screws (18).

 (h)
 Seal the screws (18) with the SEALANTS (Material No. 09-016).

 (i)
 Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-005) around the screwheads.

 C. Installation of the Air Intake Flap
 (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 49-16-43-991-005, 402/TASK 49-16-43-991-006)

 (1)
 Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to all attaching parts.

 (2)
 Put the air intake flap (8) in position and hold it.

 (3)
 Install the screws (7) to the hinge assembly. Tighten only the outer screws.

 (4)
 Make sure that the:

 -clearance E (between the trailing edge of the air intake flap (8) and the air intake nose) is between 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0590 in.).
 -left and right clearance C (between the air intake flap (8) and the air inlet duct (2) is between 1.5 mm (0.0590 in.) and 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) in the open or closed position.
 If necessary, adjust the clearance E and C as follows:
 (a)
 Loosen the screws (7) which attach the hinge to the air intake flap (8).

 (b)
 Adjust the clearance A and C. NOTE : Watch that the change of profile from the diverter (in the

____ open position) to the air intake flap (in the open position) stays a smooth contour.

 (c)
 Tighten only the outer screws (7).

 

 (5)
 Connect the actuator (1) to the air intake flap (8) in the close position. Get access from behind.

 Apply COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004) to the bolt (6) and install the bolt (6) , the washer (5) and the castle nut (4).

 (7)
 TORQUE the castle nut (4) to between 0.7 and 0.8 m.daN (61.94 and

 70.79 lbf.in) and safety it with a new cotter pin (8).

 (8)
 Make sure that the maximum permitted clearance D between the air
 inlet flap (8) and the inner top wall of the air inlet duct (2) is

 

 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.) in the opened direction.
 NOTE : Adjust the air inlet flap by increasing or decreasing the
____
 length of the actuator spindle.

 (9) Close the air intake flap electrically and then push the diverter to the skin.
 NOTE : Check that the clearence between the diverter and the adjacent
____ structure (on all sides) is approximately 2 mm (0.0787 in.).
 (10) Open the Air-Intake Flap electrically:
 WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM
_______ COMPONENTS IS CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
 -On the panel 25VU push the APU MASTER SW p/bsw to the ON position.
 (11) Make sure that the change from the diverter to the air intake flap
 (8) is smooth. If necessary adjust the stroke of the diverter.
 NOTE : The position of the control cable fitting changes the stroke
____ of the diverter. The movement of the control cable fitting 4.0 mm (0.1574 in.) to the rear of the flap gives an increased stroke of approximately 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.). The movement of the control cable fitting 4.0 mm (0.1574 in.) to the front of the flap gives a decreased stroke of approximately 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.).
 (12)
 Tighten all screws (7) and (18).

 (13)
 Adjust the seal profile (15) to the air intake nose with the flap in the closed position. The seal profile must touch the air intake nose with maximum 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.) compression F .
