WASTE WATER DRAIN - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_____________________________________________
 1. General
_______
The waste-water drain system disposes of the waste water from the lavatory
 washbasins and the galley sinks.
 The system has:
-washbasin drain assemblies in the lavatories and galleys,
 -
drain valves in the sanitary unit cabinets,

 -
drain lines and the heated drain masts.

 Description

___________
 **ON A/C 001-003, 051-052,
 (Ref. Fig. 002)
 A. Drain Assembly The lavatory washbasins have a drain valve assembly. This drain valve assembly has a valve body with drain and overflow connections. Optional is a control cable and control knob. The control cable connects the valve to the control knob.

 (Ref. Fig. 002A)
 A. Drain Assembly The lavatory washbasins have a drain valve assembly which is permanently open. This drain valve assembly has a valve body with drain connection. A hose connects the overflow at the top of the washbasin to the drain hose downstream of the drain valve assembly.
 **ON A/C ALL
 B. Drain Valve The drain valves, which are installed in the drain lines, have a valve body with inlet/outlet connections, and a diaphragm. The valves prevent leakage of cabin air through the drain lines. The valves also have a backflow prevention device.

 C. Drainmast

Waste water is discarded to the outside through two drainmasts, which are installed on the lower fuselage shell (Ref: 30-71-00). A mixture of cabin differential pressure and gravity moves the waste water to the drainmasts. Each drainmast has a drain tube, integrated electrical heating-elements, and a flange for the installation of the drainmast.
 **ON A/C 051-051,
The fwd cargo compartment drain system is connected to the drain system of the fwd lavatory/galley. Waste water from the lavatory/galley and the fwd cargo compartment drain system is discarded through the fwd drainmast 4DU. The aft cargo compartment drain system drains through the mid drainmast 24DU (Ref 30-71-00).
 **ON A/C ALL
 4. Operation_________
 **ON A/C 001-003, 051-052,
 A. Drain Assembly The lavatory washbasins have a drain valve assembly (which is installed on the bottom of the bowl) for the drainage of the waste water. The drain valve has a valve body with connections for drain lines and the sink overflow line. A plug which is installed in the drain valve assembly drains the waste water when it is pulled up. Optional Assemblys A control cable connects a poppet to a control knob on the back of the sink. You turn the knob to the right to close the valve and to the left to open the valve. A control rod system connects a poppet to a control knob on the washbasin. You pull the knob out to close the valve and push it in to open the valve.

 A. Drain Assembly The lavatory washbasins have a drain valve assembly (which is installed on the bottom of the bowl) for the drainage of the waste water. The drain valve has a valve body with the connection for the drain line. The sink overflow is connected to the drain line downstream of the drain valve assembly. The drain valve is permanently open, a plug (which is installed in the drain valve assembly) allows the waste water to drain when you pull it out.
 **ON A/C ALL
 B. Drain Valve The drain valves, which are installed in the drain lines, open only when a certain amount of water is collected. This prevents a continuous leakage of cabin air. The backflow prevention device which is integrated in the drain valves prevents backflow of water through the out let side of the valves.
