2. Optical Quick Access Recorder (OQAR) Software Installation__________________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
This procedure tells you how to install software in the quick access recorder (QAR).
(a) The QAR must contain this piece of software: 1) operational program software (OPS)
(2)
The QAR software is installed from a disk you put in the QAR.
(3)
To read about software installation times, do this task: On-Airplane Software Installation - Maintenance Practices (AMM 20-15-11/201).

(1) S 862-062Do this task: Supply Electrical Power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(2) S 472-064Install software in the QAR:
NOTE:____ You must know the correct software part number for the QAR. For the QAR to be an approved installation, software with the correct part number must be installed.
(a) If there is a data disk in the QAR, push the EJECT switch and remove the disk. 1) Make sure that Insert Disk shows on the QAR display.

(b)
Put the application disk into the QQAR.
(c)
Immediately push and hold the SET switch until Bootable Optical shows on the display.
NOTE: Before Bootable Optical shows, Bad Disk shows for less
____ than one minute. Bootable Optical shows for less than one minute.
(d) When Bootable Optical shows, release the SET swtich.
NOTE: During software installation, the QAR shows these
____ indications: FEPROM VX.X shows for less than 2 minutes. The indications XXXXX Pre Erase, XXXXX Erase, and XXXXX Write show, where XXXXX is a hex number. For each indication, the number decreases from 80000 to 0000. When the software installation is completed, SUM xxxxxxxx OK? shows, where xxxxxxxx is a hex number.
(e)
When the software installation is completed, push the SET switch.
(f)
Make sure that the application disk comes out of the QAR.
(g)
When Insert Disk shows, put a disk into the QAR.
(h)
Make sure that OQAR Ready shows.

(3) Do these steps to do a software configuration check of the QAR:
(a)
Push the MODE switch on the QAR front panel.
(b)
Push the + switch until S/W Version shows on the QAR.
(c)
Push the SET switch.
(d)
Make sure that the correct software part number shows.
(e)
Push the MODE switch.
