G. The MAWEA processes airplane sensor data and controls the activation of visual, aural and tactile crew alerting devices. Crew alerting devices which interface with the MAWEA are the captain's and first officer's master warning lights, aural warning speakers, stick shakers and the Integrated Display System (IDS).

H. There are two power supplies in the MAWEA which provide identical inputs to each card in the MAWEA. Power supply A obtains its power from the 115-volt ac standby bus. Power supply B obtains its power from the 115-volt ac first officer's instrument transfer bus. Each power supply sends dc voltages, a ground, and a reset pulse to each card in the MAWEA (Fig. 2).
2. MAWEA Monitor Panel (Fig. 3 and 4)
___________________
A. The monitor panel on the front of the MAWEA contains:
(1)
Jacks for monitoring the ARINC 429 inputs to the MAWEA.
(2)
Jacks for monitoring the voltage outputs from the power supplies.
(3)
Red lights (2) for power supply failure indication.
(4)
Test jacks (4) for L STALL, R STALL, T/O CONFIG, LDG CONFIG tests respectively. These same tests can be initiated by manually grounding the particular jack.
(5)
Airplane identification code buttons (9) for selecting the airplane identification code. The code is then sent to the EIUs.
(6)
Bus selector switches (2) used to select which system input is to be monitored through the ARINC 429 monitor jacks.
3. MAWEA Power Supplies
____________________
A. MAWEA has two power supplies that are identical and provide redundant dc inputs to each card in the MAWEA. Two panels, each secured by four screws, must be removed before gaining access to the power supplies.
4. MAWEA Printed Circuit Cards
___________________________
A. There are four types of cards in the MAWEA:
(1)
Universal Logic Cards (ULC)
(2)
Aural Synthesizer Cards (ASC)
