(2)
The shims are installed initially and are not usually replaced. Adhesive attaches the shims.
(3)
During the overhaul of the main landing gear, the shims can be removed. New beams for the landing gear possibly will not have shims installed.
(4)
It is necessary to lift the airplane on jacks when you install the shims. The digital voltage count of the WBC mode 22 is used to find the necessary shims. The permitted digital voltage count is 26467 to 37717.
(5)
Shims are available in two dimensions. A 0.002-inch thick shim (Boeing P/N 284U4049-55) will change the digital voltage count by approximately 9000 counts. A 0.003-inch thick shim (Boeing P/N 284U4049-49) will change the digital voltage count by approximately 13,500 counts. No more than two shims are permitted at each mounting lug pair.
