Close this circuit breaker:
1) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel a) 7H8, GND SAFETY RLY

Make sure that bit 28 changes to a 1 after approximately 5 minutes.

(8) Do a test of the DFDR maintenance and status discretes:
(a)
Remove the Digital Flight Data Recorder (B579) from the E8 shelf (AMM 31-31-01/401).
(b)
Set the CMC to show octal label 270, SDI 00 from CMC port 20 in binary (C/20/270/00).
(c)
Do a test of the Maintenance discrete: 1) Make sure that bit 29 (MAINT) is set to a 0. 2) Ground pin 22 (MAINT) on the DFDR connector DB579CA in the
Aft Equipment Center, E8. 3) Make sure that bit 29 changes to a 1. 4) Remove the ground from pin 22.
(d)
Do a test of the Status discrete: 1) Make sure that bit 28 (STATUS) is set to a 0. 2) Ground pin 21 (STATUS) on the DFDR connector DB579CA. 3) Make sure that bit 28 changes to a 1. 4) Remove the ground from pin 21.
(e)
Install the flight data recorder (B579) on the E8 shelf (AMM 31-31-01/401).
