FLIGHT RECORDER ACCELEROMETER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. Two tasks are in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the flight recorder accelerometer. The second task is the installation of the accelerometer. The installation task includes a test to make sure the accelerometer is installed correctly.
B. The accelerometer measures vertical, lateral and longitudinal acceleration for the flight recorder system. The accelerometer gets 28 volts dc from the FLT RCDR DC circuit breaker on the DC Power Distribution Panel (P180).
C. The accelerometer is installed on a bracket in the wheel well for the right wing gear (approximately at STA 1310, WL 175 and RBL 4). This location is near the airplane's center of gravity.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND LOCKS ARE INSTALLED IN ALL OF THE
_______ LANDING GEAR. WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCKS, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make sure the ground locks are installed in the nose and main landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

WARNING:_______OBEY THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR THE DOOR LOCKS. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE QUICKLY. THE MOVEMENT OF THE DOORS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Open the doors for the landing gear and install the door locks (AMM 32-00-30/201).

Disconnect the DX393 electrical connector from the accelerometer.

Remove the three screws and one washer that hold the accelerometer to the bracket.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WITH THE ACCELEROMETER. IT CONTAINS EASILY DAMAGED COMPONENTS.
(6) Carefully remove the accelerometer.
