_______ The landing gear doors open to let the landing gear extend and retract. After extension and retraction, they close to give a smooth contour to the wings and fuselage. Refer to:

The main landing-gear (MLG) doors are installed on the center fuselage keel-beam and on the wings and the MLG legs. When closed the doors close off the undercarriage bays and give a smooth profile.
The MLG doors include:
