 B. Cleaning of the Structure
 WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED. 
R R R  (1) Clean the inspection area with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) and a lint-free cotton cloth MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), if necessary.

R  A. Inspection (Ref. Fig. 602/TASK 52-82-00-991-002) 
R R  (1) Do an inspection of the hinges of the nose landing gear doors. This inspection includes the hinge pins.
 (2) Make sure that there is no : 
R R R R  (a) Corrosion damage : - If you find corrosion damage, refer to the structural repair manual (Ref. SRM 512200 P.Block 001) for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection. 
R R R R R  (b) Other damage (cracks, scratches, stress, marks, dents, bumps,...): - If you find this type of damage, refer to the structural repair manual (Ref. SRM 511100 P.Block 001) for damage classification and corrective action.

 B. Application of Material Protection
 CAUTION : DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON THE OXYGEN SYSTEMS._______ MAKE SURE THAT THE TEMPORARY PROTECTION DOES NOT GET: -ON COMPOSITE PARTS, CONTROL CABLES, PULLEYS,TEFLON BEARINGS. -ON LUBRICATED SURFACES. -IN DRAIN VALVES OR OTHER ORIFICES. TEMPORARY PROTECTION ON OR IN THESE PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE. 
R R R  (1) Apply masking paper or masking tape BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-074) on the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area.
 (2) Apply a layer of STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-005) or STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-006) to the inspected area.
 (3) Remove the masking paper or the masking tape.

 DOORS - RAM AIR TURBINE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 General

_______ The Ram Air Turbine (RAT) compartment has two doors which cover the RAT and its components in the retracted position. The RAT doors are installed on the left side in the belly fairing between FR41 and FR42.

 **ON A/C ALL
 The RAT doors are made of a honeycomb core which is bonded between layers of prepreg sheets. The RAT doors have door operating links, P-section seals and piano hinges.
 Each RAT door is attached to the RAT leg assembly via the door operating links. One end of the door operating link is connected to the insert assy of the doors. The other end is connected to a lug on the leg assembly.
 A P-section seal is attached with screws to each door.
 The piano hinges are attached with screws to each RAT door and to the
 aircraft structure.
 The insert assy installed in each RAT door is the pivotal point between the
 door and the lug of the leg assembly. The insert assy is a movable support.

 3. Operation
_________ The RAT doors open with the extension of the RAT. The door operating links push the doors open when the RAT extends. The links also close the doors when the RAT is retracted. The RAT is kept in the compartment with the RAT doors closed, the door operating links keep the doors in the closed position. The P-section seal closes the gap between the doors and the piano hinges let the doors open and close smoothly.
