WING GEAR UPLOCK SENSORS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains five tasks. These tasks remove, install, adjust and test the uplock sensors for the wing landing gear. Two tasks apply to the sensor adjustment. One task is for the airplane not on jacks, and one task is for the airplane on jacks.
B. The primary (S398, left gear; S404, right gear) and the alternate (S1638, left gear; S1639, right gear) uplock sensors attach to the uplock mechanism adjacent to the uplock hook.

Prepare for the Removal

(1) Make sure the ground locks for the wing landing gear are installed (AMM 09-11-00/201).

WARNING:_______OBEY THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR THE DOOR LOCKS. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE QUICKLY. THE MOVEMENT OF THE DOORS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Install the door locks on the main landing gear (AMM 32-00-30/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU PREPARE THE AIRPLANE FOR THE AIR MODE BEFORE YOU
_______ OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS THAT FOLLOW. THE AUTOMATIC OPERATION OF THE AIRPLANE SYSTEMS IN THE AIR MODE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Prepare the airplane for the air mode (Ref 32-09-02/201).

For the alternate sensor removal, open this circuit breaker on the overhead circuit breaker panel, P7, and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

For the primary sensor removal, open this circuit breaker on the overhead circuit breaker panel, P7, and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

Remove the Uplock Sensor (Fig. 201)

Remove the cover from the junction box (J18, left gear; J21, right gear).

Disconnect the sensor wires:
(a)
Remove the sealant from the electrical terminals with the plastic scraper.
(b)
Make a note of the terminal locations and the wire color for the sensor wire installation.
(c)
Remove the sensor wires from the terminal strip.
(d)
Carefully remove the terminal lugs (8) from the sensor wires.
(e)
Prepare a line that is longer than the conduit.
NOTE: You will use this line to pull the sensor wires through
____ the conduit, during the installation.
(f) Attach the line to the sensor wires.

Remove the uplock sensor (3):
(a)
Remove the conduit nut (4).
