Prepare to Measure the Sensor Gap

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCKS AND THE STEERING LOCKOUT PIN IS
_______ INSTALLED ON THE NOSE GEAR. AN ACCIDENTAL RETRACTION OF THE LANDING GEAR OR TURN OF THE NOSE WHEEL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Make sure the ground locks and steering lockout pin are installed on the nose gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

Measure the Squat Sensor Target Gap

 (1)  
Do these steps to measure the squat sensor target gap:

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU USE THE HOLDING TOOL FOR THE TORSION LINK
_______ WHEN YOU REMOVE THE APEX PIN. IF THE TORSION LINK FALLS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MOUNTING BRACKET FOR THE SQUAT SWITCH.
 (a)  Remove the apex pin assembly for the torsion link. 1) Hold the torsion link with the holding tool.

 2)  Push the button and pull the pin out from the apex bolt end.
 NOTE: The apex pin uses a quick-release ball-type
____
 mechanism to lock.

 3) Remove the apex pin bolt from the threaded bushing. 4) Remove the holding tool for the torsion link.
 (b)  
Lower the upper torsion link until the bracket assembly is below the squat sensor.

 (c)  
Measure the sensor gap (Fig. 202).

 (d)  
Adjust the sensor gap if necessary (see the tasks to "Remove and Install the Squat Sensor Target").

 (e)  
Install the apex pin assembly for the torsion link. 1) Put the end of the upper torsion link into the end fork of the lower torsion link (AMM 32-21-03/401).


 2)  If it is necessary, lift the nose gear axle with a jack to put the torsion link ends in the correct position (AMM 07-11-03/201).
 3)  Lubricate the surface of the apex bolt shank with the
 grease. 4) Install the apex bolt into the threaded bushing. 5) Tighten the apex bolt by hand and install the ball-type
