On the left landing gear, the primary sensor S419 is on the outboard side. The alternate sensor S612 is on the inboard side. On the right landing gear, the primary sensor S418 is on the inboard side. The alternate sensor S613 is on the outboard side.

The procedure to remove, install, test, and adjust the primary and the alternate sensors is the same.

 D.  
It is usually not necessary to lift the airplane with jacks when you remove, install or do a test of the sensors. If the shims, the target, or the bracket have not been removed or damaged, then no sensor adjustment is necessary. But if the shims, the target, or the bracket have been replaced or damaged, then the sensor must be checked and adjusted.

 E.  
It is necessary to lift the airplane on jacks when you adjust the clearance for the sensor and target. You must do a check of the clearance with the truck tilted. When you adjust the clearance between the sensor and the target, you remove the shim laminations to get the correct clearance.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCKS ARE INSTALLED ON THE NOSE AND MAIN
_______ LANDING GEAR. AN ACCIDENTAL RETRACTION OF THE LANDING GEAR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  Make sure the ground locks are installed on the nose and main landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).

 (2)  Install the door locks for the main landing gear (Ref 32-00-30/201).

Remove the Truck Tilt Sensor (Fig. 201)

Do these steps to remove the truck tilt sensor for the body landing gear:

 (a)  
Remove the cover from the junction box (J67 LH, J68 RH).

 (b)  
Disconnect the sensor wires as follows:


 1)  Remove the sealant material from the electrical terminals with the plastic scraper.
