(4) The wing gear door position sensors (Fig. 6) are in the center of the forward bulkhead in the wing gear wheel wells. The targets are on the forward edge of the inboard wing gear wheel well door.
3. Indication Display (Fig. 7)

A. Landing gear indication shows on the EICAS display units. The main EICAS display shows a normal gear indication and not normal gear indication.
(1) The normal indication is a rectangle box above the flap indication in the lower RH corner of the main EICAS display unit. The landing gear indication box shows:
-
All the gear are up: A solid box with the letters UP
-
All the gear are down: A solid box with the letters DOWN
-The gear is in transit: A solid box with slashes across it.
(2) The not normal gear indication is five smaller boxes, one for each gear. These indication boxes show the position of each of the gear. The messages shown in the boxes are the same as the normal indication, but the down indication is shown by the letters DN. The not normal indication shows if one of the conditions that follows occurs:
-A GEAR DISAGREE condition exists (all the gear have not completed the commanded extension or retraction cycle in 30 seconds)

The NOSE/BODY or WING ALTN GEAR EXTEND switch (in the flight compartment) is pushed in.

The landing gear door indication is an EICAS message, GEAR DOOR. A synoptic view of each door can be shown on the auxillary EICAS display. To show the synoptic view, push the GEAR switch on the EICAS display select panel.
4. Operation

A. Functional Description
(1) The landing gear indication shows on the EICAS display units on the flight deck. The sensors supply signals to the PSEU. The PSEU changes these signals to digital data. The digital data goes to the EICAS display units so the landing gear position shows to the flight crew.
