Apply corrosion preventive compound to the items that follow:
(a)
The outer diameter of the trunnion journal
(b)
The outer diameter of the trunnion bearing
(c)
The inner diameter of the bearing
(d)
The inner diameter of the bearing housing.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT HAMMER OR HIT THE BEARING. THIS IS A PRECISION BEARING AND DAMAGE TO THE BEARING COULD OCCUR.
(2) Install the bearing by hand (push the bearing in the support plate).
NOTE: The last part of the installation of the bearing is done when

you tighten the retaining nut.

(3) If it was removed, tighten the upper nut (there should be an approximate equal clearance between the trunnion horizontal surfaces at the upper and lower support plate of the steering actuator).
NOTE: The clearance (between the rod end of the actuator bearing
____ faces and the bushing faces of the steering collar clevis) should be 0.04 inch on the bottom and 0.02 inch on the top.

(4) If it was removed, tighten the lower nut until it touches the bearing.
NOTE: Do not tighten the nut 8 degrees more than the position where

the nut touches the bearing.

Install the metering valve if it was removed (AMM 32-51-04/401).

Lubricate the bearing (AMM 12-21-01/301).

Prepare for Removal

(1) Make sure that you install the ground locks of the nose landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

WARNING: REFER TO AMM 32-00-30/201 FOR THE LOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
_______ THE FAST MOVEMENT OF THE DOORS CAN CUASE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE LOCKS CORRECTLY.
(2)
Install the door lock of the nose landing gear (AMM 32-00-30/201).
(3)
Remove hydraulic power from system No. 1 (AMM 29-11-00/201).
(4)
Install the rig pin NS-4 in the cable compensator (Fig. 401).
