Minimize air bubbles as much as possible by fairing the sealant.


 NOTE: A solution of 15 to 20% isopropyl alcohol in
____ distilled water may be applied to the fairing tool to prevent the sealant from sticking to the tool. If the fairing is done by hand (finger) the sealing personnel must wear clean polyethylene gloves.
 (c)  Form a bead a minimum of 0.08 inch thick on the junction of the retainer nuts and the steering cylinder above the upper trunnion locknuts.

 If you removed the input arm, attach the metering valve input arm to the valve. Tighten the nut to 65 +/- 5 pound inches.

 (4)  Supply system no./1 hydraulic power (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 (5)  Bleed the nose gear steering hydraulic system. (a) Operate the nose gear thru 5 full cycles.

 (6)  Turn the captain's tiller from the neutral position to the left (counterclockwise) until the tiller stop is touched and then hold. (a) Make sure that the nose gear steering collar rotation from neutral is 70 (+2/-3) degrees. (b) Release the captain's tiller and allow it to return to neutral without manual assistance.
 1) 2)  Make sure that the captain's tiller goes back to the neutral position.Make sure that the nose gear goes back to the neutral position within |2.0 degrees.

 (7)  Repeat the steps above but turn the captain's tiller from neutral to the right (clockwise) and test for the same results.

 (8)  Turn the captain's tiller by hand as rapidly as possible to the left (counterclockwise) from the neutral position until the nose gear is fully rotated. (a) Make sure that the full rotation time is 9 seconds or less with no chatter or erratic system response.

 (9)  Do the step above again but turn ehe captain's tiller to the right (clockwise) and test for same results.

 Examine for leakage at the metering valve.
