(3) Remove the Base:
(a) FOR AN ALUMINUM STRUCTURE; Do the steps that follow: 1) Remove the rivets from the base (SRM 51-40-02). 2) Remove the sealant around the edge of the discharger base
with a sealant removal tool.
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SEALANT. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THE AIRPLANE SURFACES.
3) Put a sharp putty knife with a large blade between the edge of the base and the airplane surface. a) Lift the base off.
(b) FOR A COMPOSITE STRUCTURE; Do the steps that follow: 1) Remove the weather/aerodynamic bead of sealant around the
edge of the base.
a) Use a tool made to cut the sealant compound. 2) Remove the four screws from the base. 3) Put a sharp putty knife with a large blade between the edge
of the discharger base and the airplane surface. a) Lift the base off.
