E. Procedure
S 864-001
(1) Open the applicable circuit breaker that follows and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a)
P6-1 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) VHF-2
(b)
P18-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) VHF-1
2) VHF-3 (if installed)

(2) Do these steps to remove the VHF communication antenna:
(a)
Remove the 10 screws that attach the antenna to the airplane.
(b)
While you hold the antenna, break the seal with the sealant removal tool.
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WITH THE SEALANT REMOVAL TOOL. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE SKIN OR THE ELECTRICAL CABLE.

Pull the antenna away from the airplane until you have access to the connector on the coaxial cable.
(d)
Disconnect the coaxial cable and remove the antenna.
NOTE: For the top antenna, the cable can fall through the
____ hole. Make sure you attach the cable to something to prevent this.

(3) Clean the airplane surface (AMM 20-10-34/701):
(a)
Remove the used sealant from the airplane surface.
(b)
Rub the airplane surface with the solvent and a clean rag.

(1) Make sure the applicable circuit breaker that follows is open:

P18-2 Circuit Breaker Panel

2) VHF-3 (if installed)

Make sure the mating surfaces of the antenna and the airplane are clean.

(3)
Apply corrosion inhibiting compound BMS3-23 to the mating surface.
E. Install the VHF Antenna

(1) Replace the used O-ring on the antenna if it is necessary.
