(5) Do a test of the voice mode operation.
(a)
Push the LSK adjacent to MENU until the ACARS MAIN MENU shows on the IDU.
(b)
Push the LSK adjacent to MISCELLANEOUS.
(c)
Set an approved frequency in VOICE FREQ.
(d)
Put the audio selector panel to VHF-3.
(e)
Speak with the ground station operator.
(f)
Make sure that the quality of the voice is satisfactory.
(g)
Push the LSK adjacent to *EXIT VOICE.

(6) Do a printer test.
(a)
Push the LSK adjacent to PRINTER TEST.
(b)
Push the LSK adjacent to PRINT TEST MSG.
(c)
Make sure a test print is made.
C. Put the Airplane Back to the Initial Condition

ACARS INTERACTIVE DISPLAY UNIT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the ACARS Interactive Display Unit (IDU). The second task is the installation of the ACARS IDU. The installation task includes an operational test of the ACARS IDU.
B. The IDU is installed on the P8 Aft Electronic Control Panel.

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P18 Load Control Center
1) AC ACARS MU
2) DC ACARS MU
3) AC ACARS IDU

(2) Remove the ACARS IDU:
(a)
Loosen the four fasteners that attach the ACARS IDU to the panel.
(b)
Pull the ACARS IDU from the electrical socket on the panel.
