PASSENGER ADDRESS SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure does a full test of the Passenger Address system.
B. There are two tasks in this procedure. The first task is an operation test of the passenger address system. The second task is a system flight mode test of the sound level in the passenger cabin.

2. Passenger Address System Operation Test_______________________________________
A. General
(1)
The operation test is a fast check of the system. The test has a number of different parts. All parts of the test follow in a given sequence.

The operation test has these test sections:

Passenger Address Amplifier Test

Boarding Music Operation Test
(c)
AIRPLANES WITH A TAPE REPRODUCER ON THE FORWARD LAVATORY WALL; Prerecorded Announcement Test

(a) AIRPLANES WITH COLLINS 346D-2B AMPLIFIER;

Do these steps:
1) Put the TEST/NORM/CAL switch on the PA amplifier to the TEST position. a) Make sure you hear a high chime sound on all the PA
speakers. 2) Put the TEST/NORM/CAL switch on the PA amplifier to the NORM position.
3) Put the TEST/NORM/CAL switch on the PA amplifier to the CAL position. a) Make sure that the -1 and the 0 db LEDs on the PA
amplifier come on.
b) If the -1 and the 0 db LEDs do not come on, adjust the MASTER GAIN potentiometer until the -1 and the 0 db LEDs come on.
NOTE: The MASTER GAIN potentiometer is on the lower
____ part of the front panel on the PA amplifier.
4) Put the TEST/NORM/CAL switch on the PA amplifier to the NORM position.
(b) AIRPLANES WITH PACIFIC ELECTRO DYNAMICS 255-5 AMPLIFIER; Do these steps: 1) Put the NORM/SPKR TEST switch on the PA amplifier to the
SPKR TEST position. a) Make sure you hear a high chime sound on all the PA speakers. 2) Put the NORM/SPKR TEST switch on the PA amplifier to the NORM position.
3) Put the NORM/CAL switch on the PA amplifier to the CAL position. a) Make sure that the front panel meter shows 0 db. b) If the front panel meter does not show 0 db, adjust the
MASTER GAIN potentiometer until the meter shows 0 db.
NOTE: The MASTER GAIN potentiometer is on the lower
