Do these steps to prepare for an operational test of the applicable VHF system:
(a)
Connect the headphone to the captain's jack panel.
(b)
Connect the hand microphone to the captain's jack panel.
(c)
Push the applicable VHF switch on the captain's audio selector panel.
(d)
Set the VHF control panel for an approved test frequency.
(e)
Adjust the applicable VHF volume control on the captain's audio selector panel for a satisfactory sound level.

Do these steps to speak with a tower radio operator:
(a)
Push and hold a push-to-talk switch while you transmit.
(b)
Make sure the quality of the transmitted and received voice is satisfactory.
(c)
Make sure you hear the sidetone when you transmit.Put the Airplane Back to Its Initial Condition

VHF COMMUNICATION CONTROL PANEL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the VHF communication control panel. The second task is the installation of the VHF communication control panel.
B. The VHF communication control panels are installed on the Aft Electronics Control Stand Panel (P8). The control panels are installed with four fasteners and have an electrical connector on the rear.

CAUTION: CLEARLY IDENTIFY THE CONNECTOR FOR THE PANEL POSITION
_______ (LEFT, RIGHT OR CENTER) DURING REPLACEMENT. THERE IS A CROSS-CONNECTION POSSIBILITY DURING INSTALLATION.
(2) Do these steps to remove the VHF communication control panel:
(a)
Loosen the four quarter-turn fasteners on the front of the control panel.
(b)
Lift the VHF communication control panel to get access to the electrical connector on the rear of the unit.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connector.
