Do a test of the ACARS IDU operation:
(a)
Touch the MISCELLANEOUS key on the ACARS MENU page.
(b)
Touch the DISPLAY/ILLUM TEST key on the MISCELLANEOUS MENU page.
(c)
Make sure the LAMP INTESITY page comes into view on the IDU:

(d)
Set the LAMP INTENSITY to the necessary intensity.
(e)
Touch the LAMP TEST key.
1) While the LEDs come on and go off in the test sequence, look for these conditions: a) No 2 adjacent LEDs are burned out. b) No 3 LEDs in a square inch are burned out. c) No more than 5 LEDs on the screen are burned out.

ACARS PRINTER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the ACARS printer. The second task is the installation of the ACARS printer. The installation task includes a test of the printer operation.
B. The ACARS printer is installed in the P8 Aft Electronics Control Panel in the control cabin.

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P18 Load Control Center
1) AC ACARS PRINTER

(2) Remove the ACARS printer:
(a)
Loosen the four fasteners on the front panel of the ACARS printer.
(b)
Slowly remove the ACARS printer until you can get access to the electrical connector.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connector at the rear of the ACARS printer.
(d)
Install dust caps on the ends of the electrical connectors.

(2) S 424-005Install the ACARS printer: (a) Remove the dust caps from the electrical connectors. (b) Connect the electrical connector to the ACARS printer. (c) Install the ACARS printer. (d) Tighten the four fasteners on the front of the ACARS printer.
