(2) Do a test of the No. 2 VHF system operation:
(a)
Push the VHF-2 switch on the audio selector panel for the first officer. 1) Make sure the VHF-2 indicator light comes on.
(b)
Do these steps on the VHF-2 control panel: 1) Set the left frequency display to an approved test frequency.
2) Set the right frequency display to a different approved test frequency. a) Make sure the light above the left frequency display is
on. b) Make sure the light above the right frequency display is off. 3) Push and hold the COMM TEST switch. a) Make sure you can hear a sudden increase in receiver noise. 4) Release the COMM TEST switch.
(c) Speak with a radio operator with the VHF-2 system. 1) Make sure the quality of the transmitted and received voice is satisfactory.
2) Make sure the sound of the received voice changes smoothly when you turn the sound control on the audio selector panel.
3) Make sure that you hear the sidetone when you transmit.
(d) Do these steps on the VHF-2 control panel: 1) Set the TFR (transfer) switch to the right position.
