Adjustment Calculation
(a)
Compare the actual distance 'B' with the required distance 'B'.
(b)
If the actual distance 'B' is equal to the required distance 'B' (the tolerance for the required distance 'B' is -0.0 mm (-0.0000 in.) /+1.5 mm (+0.0590 in.) ) then adjustment is not required.
(c)
If the actual distance 'B' is smaller than the required distance 'B' you must increase the ram-air outlet gap. To do this you must turn the rod-eye end (1) in a counter-clockwise direction. (One half turn of the rod-eye end is apprx. equal to 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.) at dimension 'B').
(d)
If the actual distance 'B' is larger than the required distance 'B' you must decrease the ram-air outlet gap. To do this you must turn the rod-eye end (1) in a clockwise direction. (One half turn of the rod-eye end is apprx. equal to 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.) at dimension 'B').
(5)
Adjustment
(a)
Hold the ram-air outlet flap (11) and remove the nut (8), the bolt (5) and the spacer (6).
(b)
Lower the ram-air outlet flap (11) and disconnect the lever (7) from the rod eye-end (1).
(c)
Make sure that the ram-air outlet flap has full and free movement. You must correct any stiffness or binding in the movement of the flap before you do the adjustment.
(d)
Measure and make a note of the dimension "C" (Ref. Fig. Sheet 1).
(e)
Loosen the nut (2).
(f)
Adjust the rod eye-end (1) as required from the results found in the work steps (5)(c) or (5)(d).
NOTE : Under normal circumstances, after adjustment, the
____ dimension "C" must not be less than 30.0 mm (1.1811 in.) and not more than 36.0 mm (1.4173 in.).
R 1EFF : 001-003, 051-054, 1 21-61-52Page 509 1 1 May 01/05 1 1 1CES 1
In special cases where correct adjustment cannot be
achieved within these limits, you can decrease the 'C'
dimension to 28.5 mm (1.1220 in.) if:
the nut (2) still carries out its locking function and,
a full inspection of the complete ram-air outlet mechanism
is made to identify why the normal 6 mm (0.2362 in.)
adjustment range is not sufficient.
Do not turn the jack screw (10) when you adjust the flap
actuator.
For any correction to the setting you must only adjust the
rod eye-end (1).
(g)
Hold the rod eye-end (1) and the jack screw (10).
(h)
TORQUE the nut (2) to between 0.6 and 0.8 m.daN (53.09 and 70.79 lbf.in).
(6)
Put the lever (7) in position on the rod eye-end (1) and install the spacer (6), the bolt (5) and the nut (8).
(7)
Post-adjustment Inspection
NOTE : This check is only neccessary if it was not possible to adjust
____ the air outlet flap (11) with the work steps done before. This check examines the distortion of the mounting frame and the actuator upper attachment point.
(a)
Measure the distance "D" between the center-line of the actuator upper mounting point (12) and the bulkhead (13). This distance must be 257.1 +1.5 -3 mm (10.1220 +0.0590 -0.1181 in.).
