05-10-40: One (1) Engine Inoperative Landing Procedure
1. Normal BEFORE LANDING Checklist..............................................COMPLETE
See Section 03-05-50, Before Landing.
NOTE:
Leave flaps at 20° until landing is assured.
2. Approach Speed .........................................VREF (FOR 20° FLAPS) +10 KNOTS
3. Configuration ...................39° (DOWN) FLAPS WHEN LANDING IS ASSURED
NOTE:
Selecting 39° flaps at this point in the approach
assumes that the landing weight is at or below
maximum landing weight. If IMC (Instrument
Meteorological Conditions), continue the approach at
20° flaps at V REF +10 knots. Refer to the Performance
section of the Airplane Flight Manual or Chapter 13 of
the Operating Manual.

ENGINE STARTING SYSTEM
05-11-10: Engine Failure To Start
Failure of the engine to start or reach idle speed may be caused by:
• No engine rotation.
• No fuel or no ignition of fuel.
Failure of the engine to rotate can be the result of electrical or pneumatic malfunctions.
Check the engine instruments display for presence of the Start Valve Open (SVO) icon.
If no SVO icon is present, see Section 05-11-20: Start Valve Failure.
NOTE:
For airplanes SN 1144 and subsequent, and SN
1000 through 1143 with ASC 151: Engine failure to
start may be the result of a failed igniter. Check the
engine instruments display for presence of the Ignition
(IGN) icon. If no IGN icon is present, the start may be
salvaged by selecting AIR START Ignition to ON prior
to moving the HP fuel cock from SHUT to OPEN.
NOTE:
Verify fuel flow / pressure to the engine. If there is no
fuel flow / pressure, verify the FIRE handle is fully in.
Automatic ignition should occur when the ENG START switch is depressed. Its
availability will be indicated by the IGN icon on the engine instruments display. If
automatic ignition is not indicated, check for proper selection of MASTER START (versus
MASTER CRANK) switch. If MASTER CRANK has inadvertently been selected, the start
may be salvaged by selecting the appropriate AIR START Ignition to ON, or the start may
be terminated, proper selections made, and a second attempt initiated.
Fuel ignition should occur within five (5) to ten (10) seconds after opening the HP fuel
cock.
IF THERE IS NO INDICATION OF IGNITION:
1. HP Fuel Cock................................................................................................SHUT
2. START MASTER Switch.................................................................................OFF
