MESSAGES AND ANNUNCIATIONS PROCEDURES
04-00-10: Introduction
1. Purpose:
The purpose of this chapter is to present the messages and annunciations, both
visual and aural, generated by the systems of the Gulfstream IV.
2. Applicability:
Should any reference be made to an associated Abnormal / Emergency
Procedure, that procedure shall take precedence and shall be consulted.
3. Presentation of Material:
This chapter first divides all messages and annunciations procedures into three
types: Warning, Caution and Advisory. Within each of these divisions, the
messages and annunciations procedures are further divided into two types: those
messages displayed on the Crew Alerting System (CAS); and any other
annunciations (both visual and aural). Each of these two divisions is presented in
alphabetical order.

METHODS OF NOTIFICATION
04-01-10: Visual Notification
1. Crew Alerting System Display:
The primary method for presentation of aircraft status information to the flight crew
is the Crew Alerting System (CAS). In the normal operating mode, the CAS
display is presented on Display Unit (DU) 4. CAS messages are arranged and
presented as follows:
• WARNING messages: These messages are displayed in RED and are
placed on the top of any CAUTION or ADVISORY messages within the
display area. They are initially displayed flashing and will remain flashing
until acknowledgment.
• CAUTION messages: These messages are displayed in AMBER and are
placed on under any WARNING messages, but above any ADVISORY
messages within the display area. They are initially displayed flashing and
will remain flashing until acknowledgment.
• ADVISORY messages: These messages are displayed in BLUE and are
placed on under any WARNING or CAUTION messages within the display
area. They are initially displayed flashing and will revert to steady after five
(5) seconds.
2. Standby Warning Lights Panel:
NOTE:
The Standby Warning Lights Panel is removed from
SPZ-8400 equipped aircraft. These airplanes have DU
reversionary capability, allowing EICAS display on DU
2, 3, 4 or 5.
A. General:
The capsules of the Standby Warning Lights Panel (SWLP) are all red and
cover most of the subject areas addressed by the Warning (Red) CAS
