K. Effect of Exceeding ACN/PCN Number:
ACN values must be less than or equal to the airport PCN for unrestricted
use. Gulfstream Aerospace Engineering does not recommend operating
from airports that have a lower PCN number than the ACN number
obtained from the charts in this section. Higher aircraft ACN numbers will
increase the pavement fatigue damage and may result in ultimate failure of
the pavement.

L. Low Cycle Operation:
It may be possible to operate with higher Aircraft Classification Numbers in
an emergency situation if approval is obtained from the specific local
airport authority.
6. Conclusions and Recommendations:
The use of ACN/PCN numbers is desirable in that it gives a quick reference for the
operation of Gulfstream aircraft based upon an index system that can be used to
determine aircraft and pavement load factors based upon a single number for
“go/no go” limit.
A. Airplane Flight Manual Data:
The results of the flotation analysis includes data for Aircraft Classification
Numbers and Pavement Classification Numbers, and includes design
information for the pavement and for the aircraft. It is recommended that
only the calculated maximum ACN/PCN data need be included in the
Airplane Flight Manual. The suggested method is for charts with plotted
Aircraft Classification Numbers as a function of aircraft gross weight.
B. Use of Flotation Analysis Data:
The output data resulting from the flotation analysis has been developed in
the form of charts and several conditions have been included in this
section.
C. Rigid Pavement:
To use the charts to obtain the Aircraft Classification Number (ACN) for
rigid pavement, choose the expected operating gross weight and enter the
chart at that value. Go vertically up to the intersection of the curve labeled
with the value of “k” for the airport subgrade being considered and read the
ACN number on the left hand scale of the chart.
