CAS, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
FOR AIRPLANES SN 1000 THROUGH 1143 WITHOUT ASC 176:
1. NOSE WHEEL STEERING PWR Switch .....................................OFF, THEN ON
IF MESSAGE REMAINS DISPLAYED:
2. NOSE WHEEL STEERING PWR Switch........................................................OFF
3. Directional Control.............USE BRAKES, RUDDER AND/OR DIFFERENTIAL
POWER
NOTE:
Normal shimmy damping will be available with nose
wheel steering OFF.
FOR AIRPLANES SN 1144 AND SUBSEQUENT, AND AIRPLANES WITH ASC 176
INCORPORATED:
AIRBORNE:
NOTE:
Message will only be displayed with landing gear
extended.
AFTER TAKEOFF:
4. NOSE WHEEL STEERING PWR Switch........................................................OFF
If the nose wheel steering handwheel is NOT centered, leave landing gear DOWN
and land as soon as practical.
If the nose wheel steering handwheel is centered, remove feet from rudder pedals
and hands from nose wheel steering handwheel.
5. Landing Gear ........................................................................................RETRACT
ON APPROACH:
6. NOSE WHEEL STEERING PWR Switch........................................................OFF
AFTER LANDING:

05-19-40: Nutcracker System Fails To Shift To Ground Mode At
Touchdown
1. Effects of Failure:
A. For Airplanes With ASC 166:
(1) Red L-R REV UNLOCK warning message will be displayed on CAS
with the use of thrust reversers. The thrust reversers will stow at low
ground speed.
(2) Ground spoilers will deploy with wheel spin-up, but will retract at low
ground speed.

(3) The anti-skid system may not operate normally. Be prepared to
select anti-skid off at low ground speed if brakes are lost.
(4) Engine idle will go to 67% HP RPM at low ground speed.
(5) APU BLEED AIR will be inoperative.
(6) The cabin pressurization system outlfow valve will not open
automatically. Select MANUAL and open outflow valve.
(7) The stick shaker/stick pusher will remain armed.
(8) The landing gear control handle will remain unsafe (safety solenoid
energized).
(9) The engines cannot be restarted.
B. For Airplanes Without ASC 166:
(1) The thrust reversers will be inoperative.
(2) If speed brakes are used, a red AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION
warning message will be displayed on CAS.
(3) Ground spoilers will deploy with wheel spin-up, but will retract at low
ground speed.
(4) The anti-skid system may not operate normally. Be prepared to
select anti-skid off at low ground speed if brakes are lost.
(5) Engine idle will go to 67% HP RPM on landing.

6. NUTCRACKER Switch Test..................................................................RELEASE
TO RESTORE NUTCRACKER TO THE GROUND MODE FOR LANDING:
7. NUTCRACKER Circuit Breakers (As Pulled) ..........RESET (SHORTLY AFTER
TOUCHDOWN)
8. Speedbrake Handle.................................................................................EXTEND
