Hydraulic System pressure, the utility hydraulic pump
may be selected OFF to conserve pump life. This is
accomplished by selection of the UTILITY PUMP -
OFF/ARM switch to the extended position. The
UTILITY PUMP - OFF/ARM switch will display the
NOT ARM legend and the ON legend in the UTILITY
PUMP - ON switch will extinguish.
05-17-30: Combined Hydraulic System Failure
CHECK HYD QUANTITY (AMBER)
CMB HYD FAIL (AMBER)
With a loss of Combined Hydraulic System fluid, the airplane may be safely flown
and landed using the following procedures:
1. Utility Pump...........................................................................................NOT ARM
APPROACH AND LANDING:
CAUTION
IF THE FLAP SYSTEM IS THE SUSPECTED CAUSE
OF THE LEAK, DO NOT OPERATE AUX HYDRAULIC
PUMP. PULL BOTH FLAP CONTROL AND MANUAL
FLAP CONTROL CIRCUIT BREAKERS BEFORE
TURNING ON THE AUX PUMP FOR LANDING. THIS
WILL ENSURE THAT AUX FLUID AND PRESSURE
ARE AVAILABLE FOR BRAKING AFTER LANDING.
NOTE:
If it is determined flaps are not the cause of fluid loss,
set flaps to 20° using Auxiliary Hydraulic (AUX) pump
pressure.
Plan a 20°flaps landing.
2. FLAP Handle .....................................................................................................20°
3. Gear Handle ................................................................................................DOWN
4. Airspeed ...........................................................................175 KCAS (MAXIMUM)
5. Gear .......................................................EXTEND USING ALTERNATE SYSTEM
6. Gear Position ..............................................CHECK DOWN / 3 GREEN LIGHTS
7. Flaps Position.....................................................................................VERIFY 20°
8. GPWS / GND SPLR FLAP ORIDE ...................................................................ON

PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN:
9. Ground Spoilers .......................................................................................ARMED
10. AUX Pump.........................................................................................................ON
NOTE:
Nose Wheel Steering and Left Thrust Reverser will not
be available for landing.
AFTER LANDING:
11. Directional Control ...............MAINTAIN AS REQUIRED USING BRAKES AND
RUDDER
Expect diminished braking capability due to the low output of the AUX pump and
the demand of the brakes.
12. Right Thrust Reverser................USE AS NECESSARY FOR DECELERATION
WITH LEFT ENGINE SHUT DOWN OR LEFT ENGINE FIRE HANDLE PULLED OR
COMBINED HYDRAULIC PUMP FAILED:
13. Utility Pump...........................................................................................NOT ARM
APPROACH AND LANDING:
14. Utility Pump................................................................ON (MANUALLY SELECT)
15. Gear.....................................................................................EXTEND NORMALLY
16. Flaps .......................................................................EXTEND NORMALLY TO 39°
17. Ground Spoilers .......................................................................................ARMED
AFTER LANDING:
On touchdown, the brakes, steering and right thrust reverser will operate normally.
The left thrust reverser will not deploy.
05-17-40: Flight Hydraulic System Failure
CHECK HYD QUANTITY (AMBER)
FLT HYD FAIL (AMBER)
1. Yaw Damper.....................................................................................SELECT OFF
With a loss of Flight Hydraulic System fluid or right engine FIRE handle pulled or
Flight Hydraulic System pump failed, yaw damper function will be lost. If the right
engine is shut down but windmilling, yaw damper function may still be available.
See Section 05-03-50, Yaw Damper Failure. Observe yaw damper limitations in
Section 01-27-30, Yaw Damper.
2. Normal Approach And Landing .PERFORM USING NORMAL PROCEDURES
AFTER LANDING:
3. Brakes, Steering And Left Thrust Reverser ................................................USE
The Right Thrust Reverser will not be operational for landing.
05-17-50: Landing With Standby Electrical Power System Operating
NOTE:
If Standby Electrical Power is interrupted during the
following steps, cycle the STANDBY ELECTRICAL
POWER switch (STBY ELEC) OFF, then ON.
