LANDING, STOPPING AND EVACUATION
05-20-10: Overweight Landing
IF LANDING AT A WEIGHT IN EXCESS OF MAXIMUM LANDING WEIGHT IS
UNAVOIDABLE, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
1. Longest Available Runway ...............................................PLAN FOR LANDING
2. AFM Performance (or Special Performance) Section.......................CONSULT
See GIV AFM Performance (or Special Performance) Section for landing field
length requirements.
NOTE:
Airplane Flight Manual Landing Field Length
Performance Data for overweight landings are
predicted data and have not been verified by field
performance test.
3. Sink Rate and Crab ................................................MINIMIZE AT TOUCHDOWN
4. Maximum Authorized Reverse Thrust..APPLY DURING LANDING ROLLOUT
5. Overweight Landing................REPORT FOR APPROPRIATE MAINTENANCE
INSPECTIONS
CAUTION
TIRE SPEED LIMITATIONS WILL BE EXCEEDED IF
TOUCHDOWN IS MADE IN EXCESS OF 182 KNOTS
GROUND SPEED. (195 KNOTS GROUND SPEED
FOR AIRPLANES WITH ASC 190 INCORPORATED,
AND SN 1214 AND SUBSEQUENT.)
NOTE:
For airplanes SN 1156 and subsequent, and airplanes
SN 1000 thru 1155 with ASC 118, the overweight
landing inspection may not be required if the recorded
landing vertical acceleration is within limits. Refer to
the GIV Operating Manual or the GIV Maintenance
Manual for additional information.
05-20-20: Ditching
1. Following Procedure........USE TO IMPROVE CHANCES OF A SUCCESSFUL
DITCHING
No tests or actual ditchings have been made. The following procedures will
improve the chances of a successful ditching.
2. Fuel Load...........PLAN FOR MINIMUM FUEL FOR DESCENT AND DITCHING
Plan the descent and ditching to ensure minimum fuel remaining, but ample fuel
aboard to make controlled, power-on contact.
AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 FEET:

Make an appraisal of sea surface conditions and choose a ditching heading. The
ditching heading should be parallel to and on the highest crest of the dominant
wave pattern.
4. Passenger Life Vests...............................................................VERIFY DONNED
Check that all passengers have donned life vests and are cautioned not to inflate
them until they have evacuated the airplane.
5. Passenger Seat Belts...........................................................VERIFY FASTENED
Check that all passengers have seat belts fastened. Distribute pillows, coats, and
blankets, with instructions to passengers to place these items in front of their
faces prior to impact. All loose items are to be collected and slowed in the lavatory
prior to ditching. Instruct all passengers to remove shoes, loosen neckwear and
collars, and adjust seat upright. All available fluids, food, flashlights and first aid
kits should be readied for removal.

For SPZ-8000 Equipped Airplanes: Pull the following CBs:
• TONE WARN #1: Pilot’s Aft CB Panel, A-5
• TONE WARN #2: Pilot’s Aft CB Panel, B-5
For SPZ-8400 Equipped Airplanes: Select minimum tone volume.
NOTE:
Ensure cabin differential pressure (DFRN PRESS) is
zero prior to entering the water.
