IF UNCOMMANDED OR UNDESIRED BRAKE PRESSURE IS STILL PRESENT
AND AIRPLANE CANNOT BE CONTROLLED:
5. Brake Application..........................................................................DISCONTINUE
WHEN GROUND SPEED IS LESS THAN 80 KNOTS:
CAUTION
ANTI-SKID PROTECTION IS NOTAVAILABLE WHEN
USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM. FOR
FURTHER INFORMATION, SEE THE EMERGENCY
BRAKES (BRAKE-BY-WIRE) PROCEDURE IN THIS
SECTION.
6. Metered Parking Brake Pressure .............................USE TO STOP AIRPLANE
The wheel brakes may be operated by brake accumulator pressure
through use of the PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle, thus bypassing pedal
braking (toe brake) control. A fully charged brake accumulator allows
approximately Þve (5) to six (6) applications of the PARK/EMERG BRAKE
handle before pressure is depleted.
A. PARK/EMERG BRAKE Handle..CAREFULLY RAISE APPROXIMATELY
¼ TO ½ INCH
The recommended method of using the PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle to
meter applied brake pressure is to Þrst grasp the handle with Þngertips
only, resting the thumb near the base of the SPEED BRAKE handle slot.
When ready to apply brake pressure, CAREFULLY raise the PARK/

EMERG BRAKE handle in Å to ½ inch (0.635 to 1.27 cm) increments to
avoid excessive pressure. Caution should be used not to extend handle
beyond the position where braking is Þrst felt.
B. Braking Action/Pressure............................................MONITOR/ADJUST
There may be a delay in the rise of applied brake pressure when using the
PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle to meter pressure. Wait for braking action to
commence. Increase PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle travel as required.
AS THE AIRPLANE DECELERATES:
C. Brake Pressure .............................MODULATE (METER) AS REQUIRED
As the airplane decelerates, repositioning (modulating or metering) of the
PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle (easing in) may be necessary to prevent
sudden stopping or tire skidding.
05-05-80: Auxiliary Braking (HMAB)
FOR AIRPLANES SN 1183, SN 1214 AND SUBSEQUENT, AND AIRPLANES SN 1000
THROUGH 1213 WITH ASC 307 INCORPORATED:
The Auxiliary Brake System is available in the event of a Combined/Utility Hydraulic
System failure. The Auxiliary Brake System will engage automatically when the brake
pedals are depressed, provided the Auxiliary Hydraulic (AUX) Pump is ARMED and
Combined Hydraulic System pressure is below 1500 psi.
Auxiliary Brake System operation and performance are similar to normal braking if
applied pressure is held below the anti-skid range. If sufficient pressure is applied to
enter the anti-skid operation, braking will become cyclic, with large releases and
recoveries occurring approximately three (3) times per second. Reducing applied brake
pressure should stop the cycling. Skid pressures vary with airplane weight and runway
surface, and can range from 1200 psi on dry concrete to as little as 300 psi if wet.
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE SHOULD BE USED FOR LANDING WITH THE
AUXILIARY BRAKE SYSTEM:
1. Applied Brake Pressure.........................................................DISPLAY ON DU 4
2. AUX PUMP ........................................................................................................ON
3. Braking ..........................................................................................AS REQUIRED

BRAKES SYSTEM MESSAGES
05-06-10: BRAKE FAIL Message (Brake-By-Wire)
BRAKE FAIL (AMBER)
Failure of the brake system to provide brake pressure will be indicated by an amber
BRAKE FAIL message displayed on CAS. Use the following procedure to validate the
message and check the Brake Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
1. ANTI SKID .........................................................................................................ON
2. Applied Brake Pressure ................................SELECT FOR DISPLAY ON DU 4
3. BRAKE NUTCRKR ORIDE.........................DEPRESS AND HOLD FOR STEP 4
AFTER HOLDING BRAKE NUTCRKR ORIDE SWITCH FOR TEN (10) SECONDS,
CONTINUE TO HOLD SWITCH DEPRESSED AND:
4. Brake Pedals ................INDIVIDUALLY DEPRESS / CHECK APPLIED BRAKE
PRESSURE
NOTE:
A malfunctioning brake pedal is indicated by lower
than normal or zero (0) brake pressure.
5. BRAKE NUTCRKR ORIDE....................................................................RELEASE
IF BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE IS NOT AVAILABLE:
6. Emergency Brakes (Brake-By-Wire) Procedure..........................................USE
