PRESSURIZATION / BLEED AIR SYSTEMS
05-22-10: Loss Of Pressurization
IF CABIN PRESSURIZATION IS LOST, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
1. Crew Oxygen Masks......................................................................................DON
2. EMERGENCY DESCENT PROCEDURE Checklist ...............................INITIATE
See Section 05-22-20, Emergency Descent Procedure.
3. Passenger Oxygen Masks.................................................MANUALLY DEPLOY
NOTE:
Visually confirm mask deployment and advise
passengers to don masks.
05-22-20: Emergency Descent Procedure
The following procedure assumes the structural integrity of the airplane.
If aircraft structural integrity is in doubt, limit speed as much as possible and avoid
high maneuvering loads.
1. Power Levers .................................................................................................IDLE
2. Airspeed...........................................................................ESTABLISH MMO / V MO
NOTE:
An initial pitch attitude of 8° to 10° nose down is
recommended to commence descent. As speed
approaches MMO / VMO, adjust pitch attitude to 2° to 3°
nose down to avoid an overspeed condition.
3. Speed Brakes ..........................................................................................EXTEND
4. Airspeed..............................................................................MAINTAIN MMO / V MO
NOTE:
It is recommended that the emergency descent be
flown manually in order to achieve maximum descent
rate.
5. Transponder Code.................................................................................SET 7700
6. Air Traffic Control (ATC) ..........................................................................NOTIFY
7. Level Off ................15000 FT OR MINIMUM ENROUTE ALTITUDE, IF HIGHER
