LANDING.
2. Use of Emergency Flap Control:
Use the emergency flap control whenever an electrical malfunction within the flap
control is suspected. Asymmetry protection is still provided.
NOTE:
When using emergency flap control, AOA indication on
the PFDs will be invalid (“Red Xed”). The stall barrier
system (both shaker and pusher) will continue to
function normally as a dualized system. When 39°
flaps is selected, an amber STALL BARR 1 FL caution
message will be displayed on CAS. Pull the STALL
WARN CMPTR #1 circuit breaker, located on the
Copilot’s Overhead Panel, A-11. The operative stall
warning computer will continue to provide normal stall
barrier system (both shaker and pusher) functions,
although in single system mode.
TO USE THE EMERGENCY FLAP CONTROL, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
1. FLAP Handle.......................................................................AS REQUIRED
2. AUX PUMP...................................................................ON (IF REQUIRED)
NOTE:
DO NOT engage autopilot when using emergency flap
control unless flap extension is 10° or greater.
3. EMERG FLAP Switch.....................................................................EMERG
NOTE:
Activation of the EMERG FLAP switch will cause a
FLAP INPUT INVALID message on the FMS CDU. In
addition, the speed target will become invalid, VREF will
no longer be displayed on the display controller or
PFD speed tape, and the autothrottle will disengage.
4. EMER FLAP Control Knob...PUSH OR PULL (EXTEND OR RETRACT)

WHEN FLAPS ATTAIN DESIRED POSITION:
5. EMER FLAP Control Knob........................................................NEUTRAL
CAUTION
IN ORDER TO GUARDAGAINSTTHE REMOTE POSSIBILITY
OF ASYMMETRY PROTECTION FAILURE
WHEN USING EMERGENCY FLAP CONTROL,
OBSERVE THAT NO AIRPLANE ROLL IS PRESENT,
INDICATING FLAP ASYMMETRY. IF ASYMMETRY IS
INDICATED, RETURN FLAPS TO THEIR PREVIOUSLY
SELECTED POSITION.
05-14-30: Partial Flaps Landings
IF LANDING AT A REDUCED FLAP SETTING IS UNAVOIDABLE:
1. Approach Path..........................................................PLAN A WIDE APPROACH
2. AIR START Ignition ..........................................................................................ON
NOTE:
Landing at a reduced flap setting with AIR START
Ignition ON disables the overfueling solenoid valve.
This will affect the approach idle power setting.
Monitor approach idle power settings accordingly.
3. VREF Speed...............................................APPROPRIATE TO CONFIGURATION
See GIV Airplane Flight Manual Performance Section for landing distances.
Landing with less than full flaps negates ground spoiler deployment as a result of
wheel spin-up unless the GPWS/GND SPLR FLAP ORIDE switch is selected ON
before landing. Ground spoiler deployment as a function of weight-on-wheels
should be normal.
NOTE:
Select GPWS/GND SPLR FLAP ORIDE switch ON to
prevent nuisance message.
CAUTION
TIRE SPEED LIMITATIONS WILL BE EXCEEDED IF
TOUCHDOWN IS MADE IN EXCESS OF 182 KNOTS
GROUND SPEED. (195 KNOTS GROUND SPEED
FOR AIRPLANES SN 1214 AND SUBSEQUENT, AND
AIRPLANES SN 1000 THROUGH 1213 WITH ASC
190.)
05-14-40: Undesired Flap Movement
IN THE EVENT OF UNCONTROLLED FLAP MOVEMENT, PROCEED AS

2. EMER FLAP Control Knob .............PUSH OR PULL (EXTEND OR RETRACT)
3. MANUAL FLAP CONT Circuit Breaker .......................................................PULL
The MANUAL FLAP CONT circuit breaker is located on the Copilot’s Overhead
Panel, A-1.
NOTE:
With the MANUAL FLAP CONT circuit breaker pulled,
the flaps are inoperative. Emergency flap control may
be regained by resetting the MANUAL FLAP CONT
circuit breaker and operating the EMER FLAP control
knob.

FLIGHT CONTROLS SYSTEM
05-15-10: Flight Controls Considerations
The Combined and Flight Hydraulic Systems provide hydraulic pressure for the primary
flight controls (ailerons, flight spoilers, elevators and rudder). Loss of either system has
no effect on operation of the flight controls. If both the Combined and Flight Hydraulic
