THRUST REVERSER SYSTEM
05-24-10: Reverse Thrust Unlock Or Deploy
L-R REV UNLOCK (RED)
1. During Takeoff:
During takeoff, if the red “L-R REV UNLOCK” warning message is displayed on
CAS, and/or the “REV UNLOCK” and/or the “REV DEPLOY” lights illuminate on
the flight panel, proceed as follows:
A. Procedure:
(1) At speeds below V1, abort takeoff and perform Section 05-09-20,
Engine Failure During Takeoff Below V1 Speed.
(2) At speeds above V1, reduce power on affected engine and continue
as with one engine inoperative.
(3) Maintain airspeed less than 200 KCAS.
(4) When the situation permits, depress the T/REV EMER STOW
switch. If CAS warning message and flight panel lights extinguish,
land as soon as practical. Reverse thrust will not be available on
landing. Both engines will be available for landing.
(5) If thrust reverser does not restow (warning message still displayed
on CAS, and/or flight panel lights still illuminated), land as soon as
practical. Use a maximum of 20° flaps if thrust reverser doors are
actually deployed.
(6) If selection of the T/REV EMER STOW switch causes the opposite
“REV UNLOCK” light to illuminate, deselect T/REV EMER STOW
switch and land as soon as practical.
2. During Flight:
During flight, if the red “L-R REV UNLOCK” warning message is displayed on
CAS, and/or the “REV UNLOCK” and/or the “REV DEPLOY” lights illuminate on
the flight panel, proceed as follows:
NOTE:
The “REV UNLOCK” light may illuminate at high power
settings if hydraulic system pressure is lost.
A. Procedure:
(1) Ensure the reverser levers are in the stowed position and retard the
power lever of the affected engine to idle.
(2) Reduce airspeed to less than 200 KCAS.
(3) Depress the T/REV EMER STOW switch. If CAS warning message
and flight panel lights extinguish, leave switch depressed and land
as soon as practical. Both engines are available for remainder of
flight.
(4) If thrust reverser does not restow (warning message still displayed
on CAS, and/or flight panel lights still illuminated), land as soon as
possible. Land using a maximum of 20° flaps if thrust reverser doors
are actually deployed.

(5) If selection of the T/REV EMER STOW switch causes the opposite
“REV UNLOCK” light to illuminate, deselect T/REV EMER STOW
switch and land as soon as practical.
If unable to stow the thrust reverser, leave affected engine in idle.
Anticipate a higher drag condition with a deployed thrust reverser and land
as soon as practical. Do not extend flaps beyond 20° during landing in
order to avoid an increase in idle RPM with resultant increase in reverse
thrust. When landing with 20° flaps, select the GND SPLR FLAP ORIDE
switch to ON to ensure automatic deployment of ground spoilers on
touchdown.
CAUTION
IN ANY SITUATION WHERE A THRUST REVERSER
WILL NOT RESTOW, THE AFFECTED ENGINE
SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN ONLY IF REQUIRED TO
MAINTAIN LEVEL FLIGHT. UNDER CERTAIN GROSS
WEIGHTAND ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS, A SUCCESSFUL
GO-AROUND MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE.
NOTE:
If thrust reversers are found unlocked prior to engine
start, see Section 05-24-20, Thrust Reverser Locking
Procedure.
3. If REV UNLOCK Light Illuminates While On The Ground:
CAUTION
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEPLOY AND RESTOW THE
AFFECTED REVERSER. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO
AN ACTUATOR’S PRIMARY LOCK IF IT IS
UNLOCKED WITHOUT MAINTAINING STOW SIDE
PRESSURE ABOVE 1200 PSI. THE ACTUATOR
COULD BE DAMAGED REQUIRING REPLACEMENT
AND/OR LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES MORE
RESTRICTIVE THAN THE INITIAL FAILURE WOULD
DICTATE.
A. Procedure:
(1) Return for maintenance action prior to next takeoff.
05-24-20: Thrust Reverser Locking Procedure
NOTE:
Use this procedure when a Thrust Reverser (T/R) is
inadvertently deployed during engine shutdown. If a
malfunction is suspected, refer to the GIV
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 78, for T/R lockdown
information.
