05-04-40: APU Alternator Failure
AUX AC POWER FAIL (AMBER)
An APU alternator failure (as indicated by lack of AUX PWR on the ELECTRIC MASTER
Panel or amber AUX AC POWER FAIL caution message on CAS) will have no effect on
primary sources of electrical power provided both engine-driven Alternators/Converters
continue to function. Backup power in the event of Alternator/Converter failure, however,
has been lost.

BRAKES SYSTEM
05-05-10: Emergency Brakes (Brake-By-Wire)
In the event of loss of Combined, Utility and Auxiliary Hydraulic System pressure, the
wheel brakes may be operated by brake accumulator pressure through use of the PARK/
EMERG BRAKE handle, thus bypassing pedal braking (toe brake) control. A fully
charged brake accumulator allows approximately Þve (5) to six (6) applications of the
PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle before pressure is depleted.
There is a noticeable delay in the rise of applied brake pressure when using the PARK/
EMERG BRAKE handle to meter pressure. The recommended method of using the
PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle to meter applied brake pressure is to Þrst grasp the
handle with Þngertips only, resting the thumb near the base of the SPEED BRAKE
handle slot. When ready to apply brake pressure, CAREFULLY raise the PARK/EMERG
BRAKE handle in Å inch (0.635 cm) increments to avoid excessive pressure.
CAUTION
ANTI-SKID PROTECTION IS NOTAVAILABLE WHEN
USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM. USE OF
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM WHILE THE
AIRPLANE IS MOVING IS STRICTLY AN
EMERGENCY PROCEDURE. THE EMERGENCY
BRAKE PRESSURE CAN BE METERED. CAUTION
SHOULD BE USED NOT TO EXTEND HANDLE
BEYOND THE POSITION WHERE BRAKING IS
FIRST FELT (Å TO ½ INCH (0.635 TO 1.27 CM)). AS
AIRPLANE DECELERATES, REPOSITIONING
(METERING) OF HANDLE (EASING IN) MAY BE
NECESSARYTOPREVENTSUDDEN STOPPING OR
TIRE SKIDDING.
05-05-20: Emergency Brakes (HMAB)
FOR AIRPLANES SN 1183, AND SN 1214 AND SUBSEQUENT WITH THE
HYDROMECHANICAL ANALOG BRAKE (HMAB) SYSTEM INCORPORATED:
Emergency braking is available using the PARK/EMERG BRAKE handle to meter brake
accumulator pressure directly to the brakes.
Anti-skid protection is bypassed and applied brake pressure must be limited to 300 psi to
avoid locked wheels and blown tires.
It is normal for deceleration to increase during the stop even though applied brake
pressure is held constant. Reduce pressure as required to maintain constant
deceleration.
