05-07-80: Battery Or Battery Charger Failure
BATT 1-2 CHGR FAIL (AMBER)
AMBER CHGR FAIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON EPMP
1. Appropriate MAIN AC BUS Power ..........................................................CHECK
2. Affected Battery AMPERES / VOLTS Indications .............................OBSERVE
IF METER READING IS ABNORMAL:
3. BATTERY CHARGER Circuit Breaker (CB) (PDB).....................................PULL
The BATTERY CHARGER CBs are located in the AC LEFT (for Battery 1) and AC
RIGHT (for Battery 2) sections of the PDB. The amber CHGR FAIL light will
remain illuminated on EPMP after the appropriate CB is pulled.
AFTER THREE (3) TO FIVE (5) MINUTES:
4. BATTERY CHARGER CB...........................................................................RESET
IF BATTERY DOES NOT CHARGE:
5. BATTERY CHARGER CB .............................................................................PULL

6. BATTERY Switch (Affected Side)..................................................................OFF
NOTE:
Select BATTERY switch to OFF only if battery is
discharging. Reinstate if battery power is required.
05-07-90: Essential DC Bus On Battery Power
NOTE:
If the ESS DC AUTO, LEFT MAIN and BATT
switchlights (DC POWER CONTROL section of
EPMP) are illuminated and the BATT 1 and BATT 2
switchlights are not illuminated (or the amber BATT
ON BUS message is displayed on CAS [SPZ 8400]
[capsule illuminated on SPZ 8000]), the K20/K22 relay
has experienced a failure of one of its two relay poles.
Report for maintenance action.
If DC RESET light is illuminated, see Section 05-07-70, Bus Fault - AC or DC RESET
Light On.
1. L MAIN DC BUS and/or R MAIN DC BUS...........................VERIFY POWERED
IF BUSES ARE NOT POWERED, PERFORM STEP 2.
IF BUSES ARE POWERED, PERFORM STEP 3 THROUGH 5.
IF BUSES ARE NOT POWERED:
2. Reason Not Powered ............................DETERMINE AND RE-POWER BUSES
IF BUSES ARE POWERED:
3. ESS DC BUS Switch (EPMP)......................................................................AUTO
4. DC RESET Switch......................................................................................PRESS
5. ESS DC BUS.HARD SELECT TO LEFT MAIN, RIGHT MAIN, THEN BACK TO
AUTO
Pause between each selection to determine if power to ESS DC BUS is switched
from BATT to either LEFT MAIN or RIGHT MAIN.
IF EPMP SWITCH SELECTION IS CORRECT:
6. Battery Ammeters......................................................CHECK FOR DISCHARGE
IF BATTERY AMMETERS INDICATE THAT BATTERIES ARE DISCHARGING,
PERFORM STEP A OR PERFORM STEPS B THROUGH H:
A. Load Shedding.............................................PERFORM AS NECESSARY
One or both main fuel boost pumps may be sufficient for load shedding
purposes.
CAUTION
DO NOTATTEMPT TO START THEAPU OR USE THE
AUX HYDRAULIC PUMP.
OR:
B. ESS DC BUS...............................SELECT BATT FOR POWER SOURCE
